41) Bit Awkward

Y/N POV

As you called up Yena into the recording studio, it finally was her turn to record her part. You couldn't make eye contact with her the whole time.

After the entire kiss situation, you two haven't talked to each other face to face, and it made the atmosphere become tense and very awkward. As she got ready to record her part, you two didn't speak a single word to each other. No one could have guessed that you two were actually best friends.

You kept on glancing at her, and you couldn't help but feel your heart beating faster. Memories of the last time we were with each other in person filled your mind, making you blush majorly. That kiss on the cheek... It was like a diabetes package, it being too sweet to bear. However, since you never experienced something like that, it made you baffled.

You felt extremely out of place, and the air between you two felt odd. The worst part is that you couldn't talk about it since you tried to keep the whole ordeal between us as professional as you could. She was an idol, and you were a producer... Even if we were best friends, we had to pretend like we didn't know each other.

However, even with that knowledge at the back of your head, you couldn't help but feel flushed every time you looked at Yena. The memories of her lips touching your cheek made your heart flutter, making it feel like butterflies from 12 different dimensions were in your stomach flying around.

However, it seems like you weren't the only one feeling this type of heat. As you glance at the duck's face, Yena's was also bright red, almost looking like a cherry on a cold ice cream sundae. You assume that she was probably thinking about the exact same moment, making the air in the room feel incredibly odd.

As you glance at her, each time your eyes made contact with hers, both of you would instantly look in another direction. You two roughly stayed silent for 1 minute before you got the ball rolling and started doing your job.

Y/N: "Ummm... O-Okay, let's get s-started," you said, trying to do the task you were given.

By the end of the day, you needed to have a small demo of IZ*One singing La Vie En Rose, so they can use it while rehearsing the choreography. You were slightly behind schedule, so you needed to finish Yena's part as soon as possible.

However, even though you were trying to get started, you noticed she was just staring at you, her head in space. Hmm? Was she dozing off?

Y/N: "Yena?" you said, waving your hand, trying to snap her out.

Yena: "Hm?" she said responded.

Y/N: "Let's get started..." you said, wanting to finish the recordings.

Yena: "Oh okay..." she said, snapping out of her daze. "Shit... Why can't I stop staring at him..." she said softly, probably accidentally saying that out loud. She then gave herself a small slap on her cheeks, wanting to snap out of it, and you then guys began to record.

Throughout the recording, she was doing a fantastic job. She was super good, being way above the expectation. You couldn't believe that this was the same Yena that you met during your trainee days. Even though her personality was still the same, you could tell she had gotten much more mature and skilled over the months.

However, as you were amazed by her talent, something bothered you. As you looked at the little duckling, you couldn't help but notice how gorgeous she looked today. Was she always this pretty?

Even though she was bare-faced, she was as pretty as a picture. You knew Yena had always been a cute dork... But why does it feel like she got more attractive? You couldn't help but gawk at her appearance, and this also left you in a daze.

Yena: "Y/N... Hello? Anybody in there?" she said, also making the same waving motion you previously did.

Oh, man... Was I staring too? You made eye contact with the duck once more, and you both instantly turned your head in another direction. This is so awkward...

Y/N: "Sorry, I didn't mean to stare," you said apologizing. "Anyway, let's continue the recording," you said, getting back to work.

You guys then finished up the recording, and as you were about to be done, you wonder if Yena had anything else on her schedule. You wanted to hang out in order to make the tension disappear but weren't sure if your little duck would be busy. However, after growing a pair, you decided to ask her.

Y/N: "Hey... Yena," you said, a bit shy.

Yena: "Hm?"

Y/N: "Uh...Um..." you stutter, getting a bit nervous.

Yena: "..." she stayed quiet, waiting for your response.

You tried to make eye contact but once again couldn't hold it. You watch as Yena begins to play with her fingers, probably feel awkward as hell.

Y/N: "Are you f-free a-after? L-Like, do you have any p-plans?" you said, getting a bit flustered. You watched as her face became one filled with surprise.

Yena: "Ummmm... Uh..." she muttered before whipping out her phone. You watched as she scrolled through the schedule. "Yeah, I'm free," she said, a bit quiet. You never thought the duck could be so silent; it made you feel so uncomfortable. "Why?" she asked.

Y/N: "Oh... Uh..." you muttered.

Yena: "..."

Y/N: "Um..I-I was w-wondering if you w-wanted to maybe h-hangout after w-work?" you said, stuttering a bit.

You watched as she nodded her head, and a little bit of joy-filled your heart. You were glad she accepted your invitation. With a slight smile on her face, she thanked you for all the work you did and left so you can make the song.

You then begin to finish making the song, inputting everyone's voices into the instrumental. As you were fine-tuning the song, adding some MR and other musical ideas, you had to say, but the song sounded great. The beat and their voices blended so well together, and Yena's rap was straight fire.

After a few hours, you had complete the demo, and after showing it to the IZ*One member, you received their blessings. Then all of IZ*One besides your little duck left the building, them wanting to go back to their apartment, leaving you two alone for a while. After packing away all the equipment, you said.

Y/N: "Ready to go?" you said to the little duckling, a bit excited for our small hangout

Yena: "Yep," she said. You guys begin to walk over to your car, excited to hang out with your duck once more.
