Elizabeth woke to pure silence. Something that she never thought she'd hear. All she could hear was the busy Manhattan highway. She rolled over and saw Alex, who slept hanging halfway off the bed. She pulled him onto the bed and sighed. Another dreary morning in Manhattan.

She hurried out of bed to Emma's room, where she saw that she was still asleep. She smiled. Ignorance is bliss, she thought. It's a miracle you haven't been curious about what you are. There would be no easy way to explain it.

She turned to leave, then spotted a note folded on Emma's homework desk. "Is it something from her teacher?" She wondered aloud. She picked it up and read it to herself.

"Hello, Liz." She read.

She dropped the note and screamed as a voice screamed in her head.

Emma bolted out of bed to her mother's side. "Mommy, are you alright?" She asked.

Elizabeth nodded and stood up, clutching at her head. "I'm fine, sweetie. Have you packed your bag?"

Emma smiled and pointed to a poorly packed backpack full of clothes. "I grabbed everything you said. Is daddy coming back?"

Elizabeth hugged her daughter.

"He's asleep. I'll be back in a minute. Can you dress yourself?"

Emma nodded. "Okay. I have to wake Lauren. Be quiet, alright?" She winked at her and she winked back.

Elizabeth walked to Lauren's room and knocked. "Lauren?"

She heard as Lauren dragged herself out of bed and to the door.

"Do you need something, mom?" Lauren asked as she rubbed her eyes.

Elizabeth handed her a slip of paper with Red's address. "Take Emma to this address. We'll come by later to check on you two."

Lauren took it and tossed it onto her dresser. "Thanks." She shut the door in Elizabeth's face before she could say anything else. Elizabeth sighed. "Kids."
