Old Alex landed on the roof of the Black and White building and dropped his shotgun as he saw Isabelle standing nearby, a death magic spear aimed at his heart.
"Why do I get the feeling that you were expecting me?"
Isabelle drove the spear into the gravel. "I saw the portal that brought you here. However, I also saw a hellfire ring open in Central Park. You wouldn't happen to know about that, would you?"
Old Alex's Blackcaster form vanished and he sat on the ledge. "Sadly, yes. I do know how it was opened. The Rapture from my world opened it and sent his brother, Armageddon along with Garna here."
"Garna, the demon queen?"
Old Alex nodded. "Yeah. That's her. But she's in a different body. The body of Rhia, the black angel. Armageddon took over Acalagua, the former genie."
Isabelle jumped as lightning flashed in the sky. "Something's wrong."
Old Alex transformed and grabbed his shotgun. "I felt it too. She's near."
Isabelle spun around as a knife flew over her shoulder.
Garna waved as she landed. behind her. Blackcaster scowled.
"You bitch from Hell."
Garna waved her hand and the knife returned to it like a boomerang. "Do you treat all your friends like this?"
Blackcaster cocked his shotgun and leveled it at her head. "You are not my friend."
Garna reached in her purse and pulled out Tank's head. "But he was."
He lashed a chain around her leg and yanked her off her feet. "How dare you!"
He flew forward and punched her in the face. "You killed him! You monster!"
Garna drove a knife into his chest and flip-kicked him over the edge.
She laughed and pushed herself up. "He calls me a monster. He should really look in the mirror."
Isabelle's hands lit up with green fire. "What do you want?"
Garna licked the blood from the blade of her knife and looked her in the eye. "I want to find someone. Someone you may know. A little girl. About six years old. Looks like a little devil."
Isabelle's flames glowed brighter. "What do you want with her? She's just a child."
Garna spun her knife and cackled. "So you do know who I'm looking for. I'll give you ten seconds to tell me where she is. If you don't answer before then, well... you saw what happened to him." She nodded to Tank's head.
Isabelle threw the fireballs at Garna, who batted them away with a flap of her enormous black wings. Garna laughed and kicked the head aside. "You're really testing my patience. Five seconds, bitch. Four, three, two, one." She threw her knife, but it was intercepted as Alex blocked it and kicked her to the ground.
Isabelle stared in shock as he removed his mask. "Where the hell have you been? I've been trying to reach you for hours."
"Excuse me, your highness, but I didn't exactly have my telepathy channel open for you to mess around with."
Isabelle shook her head. "Now is not the time for sarcasm. She's after your daughter, for pete's sake."
Garna sat bolt upright and laughed. "His daughter? I think you mean, Rapture's daughter."
She aimed her knife and threw it into Alex's chest, then pulled it back, taking Alex with it. She caught him by his throat and squeezed, cutting off his air supply. "My, my. You're persistent no matter how old you are. I must say though, you're much better looking than your counterpart. It'll be fun to kill you," She twisted the knife and listened as Alex screamed in pain. "Adios."
She drew another knife and raised it over her head to stab him.
Isabelle jumped as her face was splattered with blood. She wiped her eyes and saw Garna standing over Alex, a gaping hole in her stomach. She gasped and fell to a knee. Blackcaster appeared behind her and struck her with the butt of his shotgun, knocking her down. "Secure her. That wound won't kill her. She won't be down for long."
Isabelle waved her hand and a set of ropes lashed themselves around Garna's wrists. "One more second and he would have been a goner."
Old Alex knelt down and pulled the knife from his counterpart's chest. Alex groaned as the wound healed. "What the hell is she?"
Isabelle pulled him up and handed him his mask. "That was Garna. The demon queen of darkness. In our world, she's dead. As you probably guessed, she's from his world." She nodded to Blackcaster, who threw Garna away from the ledge.
"Hindsight's twenty-twenty, I guess. I didn't think she would hunt us so openly. She's usually more discreet about her kills."
Isabelle placed her hand on his chest and the Blackcaster form melted away. "Nobody pays you to think."
Old Alex shot Garna again. "We should probably lock her up. I'm limited on ammo."
Alex picked up Garna and slung her over his shoulder. "I agree."
