"I love you more than anything. Nothing will ever change that." Marina rolls her eyes and scoffs at her mother on the other end of the phone.
"Mom, don't be so dramatic." She sighs. She looks around before responding, "I love you too."
Sighing to herself, she turns off her car and grabs her backpack. Swinging the car door shut behind herself, Marina pulls her backpack over both her shoulders and shoves her phone into her back pocket.
Overwhelmed, she stares at the school she would be starting as soon as she walks in. Marina wishes she would've started in the morning but she decided to help her mom unpack some boxes.
With a sigh, she heads for the doors to the school, her car beeps behind her as she locks it. Pushing open the double doors, she's once again filled with nerves as the crowded hall of students look her way. Marina walks through the halls with her head down, keeping her gaze on her feet and the floor beneath her.
"Well, Lydia." Marina stops as a tall, dark blonde boy stops in front of her. Marina looks around her as some other students stop to observe them. A curvy redhead stops next to him, blocking her from passing. Marina takes a couple steps back.
"Excuse me." She says. The two in front of her ignore her, only focusing on themselves.
"In preparation for some big changes, I've decided to drop some of the dead weight in my life. And you're about the deadest." The tall dark blonde says to the redhead, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. Marina's eyes open wide at what he calls her.
What he said wasn't meant for Marina, but it still hurt her. She can't imagine how the girl must feel. She doesn't know the boy in front of her, and she certainly doesn't want to after that. The redhead's mouth falls open.
"Are you breaking up with me?"
"Dumping, actually." He says matter of factly, "I'm dumping you." He leaves her there and unintentionally bumps into Marina's shoulder as he walks away.
She sympathetically eyes the redhead who is frozen in shock. Marina's chest rings in pain as she hurts for her. She takes notice of how incredibly gorgeous she is.
"She could get anybody she wanted and she chose an asshole." She thinks to herself.
The redhead finally notices Marina standing near her and scoffs. Her face changed from sad to angry in seconds. She eyes Marina carefully, from head to toe.
"What?" She asks with an attitude, hands flail by her side.
Marina's eyebrows furrow at her sudden attitude. She tightens the straps around her shoulders. "Where's the principal's office?" She asks her.
"New?" Marina nods. The redhead sighs and puts on a fake smile. Marina figures she's embarrassed of her seeing the whole thing. The redhead nods behind Marina.
"It's just down the hall. You'll see it." She states and walks right by Marina and into the girls bathroom.
She sighs at the drama already happening on her first day. Following the directions given to her by the gorgeous girl, Marina came to find out the girl was right. Right on the door was the word "Principal" and "Vice Principal" plastered on it. It was hard to miss.
Raising her fist, she knocks firmly on the door twice. The bell echoes in the hallway as it rings, loudly. Marina watches some students walk by her to get to class, occasionally smiling at some girls passing by her.
"Marina Amara?"
Marina turns around to look at the tall man behind her. She notices he's dressed in a grey suit. Marina nods, realizing she's awkwardly staring. She shakes off the nerves.
