Subject: I Haven't Heard From You in a While...
Date: 19th September 2013I started university last week, and its not the same without you. I was accepted into Manchester, so now I'm living life as a city mouse. I'm sharing a dorm with quite a colourful character named America. Yes, as in the country. She hails from said country, too. Boston to be specific. If her accent wasn't enough to contend with, she also has developed an obsession with fish and chips since she moved here, so the dorm has a pungent fish smell that lingers in the air like a thick layer of smog. Despite having a brick wall separating our bedrooms, the sound of her snoring (which reminds me of an airplane taking off) still manages to slip through the cracks of the shoddy brick work and echo around my small bedroom (its tiny, Soph. Remember that puny box room you had in Torpoint? Well, visualise that, but half the size!).
I've been here a little while now, and I've managed to make one friend (America has told me we aren't at that point in our relationship yet). His name is Harry, and we met at a little coffee shop off campus. I was scribbling away ferosiously at my essay, got caught up in the panic of it all and ended up spilling my coffee all over my notes. Harry quickly came to my rescue, and once I had finished crying he told me we were in the same class, and that I could borrow his notes. We ended up going out for a pizza that night, and well, we've hung out together everyday since. Its been nice having a friendly face around. I've not had that since you left so abruptly in June. Speaking of your disappeance, I haven't heard from you all summer, I hope you're okay? Please let me know.
Love, Beth x
