"Derek. This isn't a house."
"Yea." He said not really listening to what Meredith was saying.
"You can't live here."
"I am going to buy it." He said as he looked around in awe.
"Derek!" Meredith exclaimed trying to snap Derek out of his trance.
He turned to look at her, "This is home Mer."
"A home usually includes a roof."
"I'll get a roof."
"And walls, and running water, and electricity."
"I'll build a house. A big one. Right over there." He said as he pointed to a clearing in the distance.
"Derek I love having you stay with me, but I don't think it's a good solution for you to live with me for that long."
"No. Of course not." He furrowed his brow as he tried to come up with a solution.
"We should look other places."
"I'll get a trailer!" Derek said excitedly, "And I will park it right here."
"You, the highly successful neurosurgeon, are going to live in a trailer?" Meredith questioned.
"Yup" he said as he wrapped his arms around her with and looked at her with a huge smile that made him look like a little kid on Christmas.
"Seriously?"
"Seriously. You are going to love it."
"Well," she bit her lip and looked around, "it is beautiful here."
He pulled her into a deep, joyful kiss.
They parted and Derek yelled, "Hey! John, I'll take it!"
The realtor walked towards them and said, "wonderful! I'll draw up the papers and if all goes well the land should be yours in a few days!"
At a stoplight on the car ride home, Derek turned his head and stared at Meredith.
"What?" Meredith said as she felt his warm gaze on her.
"Nothing" He said still smiling and staring at her.
"Seriously what!" She said now laughing at him.
"It's just- I love you. You bring out the best in me. Ever since I met you, my life has been so much brighter and full of life. You're just- really great."
Her face turned red as she lost all words. Her heartbeat doubled in speed and her face changed into a deep smile. The light turned green and he turned his head to look at the road.
He sighed deeply, "Meredith. You make me so happy, thank you."
They drove for a bit longer in silence until they reached an off road that had little to no traffic.
"Pull over Derek." Meredith said seriously.
"What?" He asked confusedly.
"Do it! Pull over!" She commanded, and he followed her orders.
Once the car was pulled over to the side of the road, Meredith opened her door and got out without saying another word.
"Where are you going?" Derek asked, now a bit hurt.
"Oh my god, can you please shup up for one second." Meredith snapped.
She walked around the car until she reached his door. She opened the door while he looked at her stupidly. She reached over him and unclasped his seatbelt and grabbed his arm to pull him out of the car. Once they were both out, she moved her body close to his and grabbed his arms. She dragged them so that they were around her waist. Then she placed each one of her hands on his cheeks, stood on her tippy toes and pressed their lips together. After a sufficient amount of time, she pulled away, looked him in the eyes, and slowly said, "I love you too."
Derek started to laugh spiritly as he bent backwards so that his arms were forcing Meredith to be held in the air, then he spun her around as she screamed happily. He then looked at her with sparkly eyes and the biggest grin that Meredith had ever seen. "You love me too!"
