Bad Guys

that's terrible

Meredith laid on the bed, resting on her elbows. It was early in the morning but the couple at plenty of time before they had to go do their doctorly duties. She watched as Derek pulled his sweater over his head. He walked into the bathroom, brushed his teeth, and spent several minutes fixing his hair. After he finished, he turned around to see Meredith staring at him intensely. He gave her a bright smile but was returned a sad frown.

"Meredith, what's wrong?"

Meredith shook her head and got out of the bed. She started pacing back and forth in the bedroom before turning back to him, "You know that thing you said yesterday?" 

"What thing?"

"The thing that you said then I said back."

"Oh." he laughed "the thing where I said I love you?"

"Yea."

"What about it?"

"You know- You know you didn't have to say that. I mean I wouldn't have left you or anything. You didn't have to say it if you didn't-"

Derek furrowed his brow at her, "Did you not want me to say it?"

"No I did. I mean I wasn't hoping you would say it or waiting for you to say it. What I am trying to say is you didn't have to say it if you didn't mean it." She rambled.

"Meredith, what is this about? Did- did you not mean it when you-"

"I did! I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it but I don't know how you feel about the whole 'I love you' thing and I just want to clarify and-"

"Meredith."

"You keep saying my name."

"And you keep saying crazy things. So we are even."

"I am not crazy."

"You are." He pinched his fingers together "A little bit."

"I am not crazy and I resent-" she was cut off by him grabbing her shoulders.

"You are. And I am madly in love with you."

"You are?"

"Cross my heart." Derek said.

"Why?"

"Why?" Derek chuckled at the question.

"Yea why? I mean, you left your wife for me. Your married over a decade wife. It doesn't make sense."

"Why are you doing this?" Derek asked.

"Doing what?"

"I've told you, several times, that you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. That you brighten my life and I would be lost without you. I was lost without you. I love you because you are the most wonderful human being I have ever met."

"Hmf"

"Hmf What!?" Derek asked laughing at her reaction.

"The things you are saying are the things that you are supposed to say. It's the fake things they write for bad romcom movies."

"Well you make me feel like I am in a bad romcom." He retorted.

"UGHGGG" She groaned loudly.

"What!!?" Derek asked now frustrated.

"That's terrible!"

"It's terrible that I am in love with you?!"

"No the lines you use!" She mimicked his voice, "Well you make me feel like I am in a bad romcom."

"You are making fun of my love." He sat down on the bed and crossed his arms, feigning offense.

"Oh I am sorry Derek." She said as she tried to pull him up.

He refused to get up, "Nope." He shook his head.

"I'm just a girl, standing if front of a boy, asking him to love her" She quoted.

He grinned up at her. He stood up and wrapped his arms around her and whispered "That's terrible."
