Meredith giggled as she tried to slide her key into the lock. Derek was making it quite difficult because of his mouth that was currently kissing her neck.

"Patience Derek. We need to go inside and that can't happen while you are distracting me."

"No." He said as he continued to kiss her.

She finally managed to get the door open and walk through, which only made Derek kiss her more. She started to kiss him back when she heard a thud behind her. She parted with Derek and turned around to find her two roommates standing still with shocked expressions and a plate of food on the ground.

Meredith rubbed her lips and said, "Hi guys."

"Hi." George mumbled.

"Hello." Izzie growled.

"Hey." Derek waved awkwardly which made Meredith laugh a bit.

"So uh. What's going on?" Izzie asked coyly.

"We were just..." Meredith drifted off, not really know how to answer the question. She figured saying, 'I am about to have dirty sex with my boss who everyone still thinks is married' would probably not go over well.

"About to get dinner." Derek finished for her.

"Yup dinner" Meredith confirmed.

"Can we join you?" Izzie asked. "You made George drop his dinner, so the least you could do is get him a new one."

"Of course. I will order us a pizza" Derek responded politely. He left the room to make his phone call.

"What the hell are you doing? He is married. And your boss." Izzie whispered aggressively.

"I'm getting dinner. And I know he is my boss." Meredith retorted dryly.

"Do you also know he's married?" George asked quietly.

Meredith rolled her eye.

"Married Meredith." Izzie said in a condescending tone

"He's getting divorced" Meredith defended.

"Is that what he told you?" George asked.

"The pizza should get here in a half hour" Derek walked back into the foyer, sensing the tension.

"Great." Izzie huffed as she turned sharply and walked to the kitchen. George followed her.

"What's going on?" Derek whispered to Meredith.

"They don't like that I am with the married attending" Meredith explained.

"Well does it help that as of tomorrow I won't be married?" Derek asked hopefully.

"They don't believe you that you are getting divorced."

"Don't believe me?"

Meredith nodded.

"What do they need to have a personal conversation with my divorce attorney.

Meredith laughed, "That might help. Come on, let's go and have the dinner from hell."

Meredith and Derek joined Izzie and George in the kitchen.

"So. Are you two dating" Izzie asked.

"Yes." Derek answered quickly.

"And if you don't mind me asking-" Izzie started.

"The divorce is being finalized tomorrow."

"Ah. Which firm are you using for your divorce?"

Meredith and Derek shared a knowing look.

"Smith and Clark Law Agency." Derek said, a little offended at the insinuation. "Are you looking to get divorced soon Stevens?"

"Nope. I'M not married."

"Well soon. I won't be either."

"How long have you two been seeing each other?" George asked, trying to make the room a little less uncomfortable.

"We were friends for a while before I separated, then we got together pretty soon after." Derek said, blurring the timeline a bit.

"Are you serious?" Izzie blurted out. "Serious as in, is your relationship serious." Izzie corrected herself.

"Very." He said as he grabbed Meredith's hand and smiled up at her. "I love her."

This last comment actively shut up any doubt that Izzie and George had. The rest of the night was significantly less awkward. The boss part still caused some tension but the interns now believed that Derek was sincere about his intensions for Meredith. Derek also sensed that George had a bit of a thing for Meredith, but he wasn't too worried about it. Meredith didn't show any interest in her coworker.

After dinner, Derek and Meredith snuck away and scrambled up the stairs in order to finish what they started earlier.
