Vanessa having O-positive blood and not afraid of needles always donates blood when she hears of a blood drive. Lucky for her she heard about a firehouse hosting a blood drive and being the friend she is invites her friends to go with her. Only Amaia had a flexible schedule that gave her the time to go with Vanessa to the firehouse. Parking a block away from the firehouse the two women walked in to the house while talking about the one thing revolving around their life, specifically Amaia's
"Are you sure I can even donate blood while on hormones?" Amaia asks not wanting to be disqualified once they arrive at the firehouse
"Yes, I looked it up." Vanessa reassures the brunette at her side "Still can't believe you said yes"
It had been at least three months since Amaia said yes to being a surrogate and sadly the first round of getting pregnant didn't work, "You're just jealous you weren't asked"
"Well just a little"
"Ness, you hate kids-" Amaia states only to be interrupted by the look her friend next to her gives her "Okay, hate isn't the word but you've said so many times how you will never get pregnant and don't see yourself as a mom"
"Yeah, and I wouldn't be a mom hence the whole having a baby for another person"
"Well do you want to be the surrogate?" Amaia asks even though she already started the process of having her friends kid
"Hells no. No one wants a pregnant me at work," Vanessa seriously replies making Amaia laugh knowing she was right
"Then there's the whole dating while pregnant," Amaia lists knowing her friend dated history was long but her dates weren't
"You're still going to date when pregnant?" Vanessa asks as they enter the firehouse and walk over to the area set up for the blood drive
"Well... yeah" Amaia shrugs not having given much thought to dating while pregnant or what that would even look like but she just knew being her friends surrogate wasn't going to stop her from living her life
The conversation ended with it being their turn up at the table, they were met with a very enthusiastic firefighter who was running the blood drive. First came the paperwork and after it was processed and they were accepted to donate blood the two women walked over to the red reclining chairs.
"You've got to distract me," Vanessa whispers over to Amaia who sat at her right a nurse having yet to get to them
"I thought you weren't afraid of needles," Amaia whispers back with a puzzled look
"I'm not... just don't like seeing my blood out of my body," Vanessa explains in a whisper making Amaia hold back a laugh
Surrounded by firefighters that's all Amaia could think about them as a good topic, "Look at those chickens"
"Sadly none of them are hens," Vanessa shakes her head making Amaia laugh
"Okay so I'll save the hot firefighters for myself," Amaia replies making her friend roll her eyes "Oh did I tell you about Killian acting weird?"
"No," Vanessa states interested in the topic at hand and mindlessly nodding at the nurse moving her arm ready to insert the needle "Do you keep forgetting which one is his favorite eye patch?"
"No we just have different favorites, he looks too cute in his pink rhinestone eye patch but even with his pirate eye patch he's been moody," Amaia explains keeping eye contact with her friend rather than focusing on the needle piercing her inner arm
Vanessa couldn't help but laugh, "That cat does know how to accessories with his pirate name"
Killian Bishop is Amaia's cat, she adopted him after learning she was allergic to dogs and really wanted a pet. Killian as a kitten wore an eye patch and Amaia seeing his black coat with a white belly and two white paws made the girl fall in love

Amaia received a call from the hospital later that day telling her to go in because they had news pertaining to the analysis they did on her donated blood. Thinking the worst possible things prior to the appointment Amaia wasn't prepared for the good news she received.
With the good news, she had to plan how to tell her friends and so with a song stuck in her head she decides a karaoke night may be the best way to share it.
Mara and Amaia had their song which was perfect for the situation at hand. The timer was going off and the two women stood at the center of the room mic in hand
"Ohhh aaahhh dundun" Amaia starts out with a playful shake of her shoulders
Mara turns to Amaia with a smirk, "You know you love me, I know you care"
"Just shout whenever And I'll be there"
"You are my love, you are my heart" Amaia sings pointing over at her friends who all do a heart with their hands "And we will never ever ever be apart"
"Are we an item" Mara sings as a question
"Girl quit playin' We're just friends" Amaia sings flipping her straightened brown hair over her shoulder
"What are you sayin' Said there's another and look right in my eyes"
"My first love broke my heart for the first time," Amaia sings before turning to the Fernandez-Amari couple, taking a paper from the back of her back jean pocket proving she was pregnant and placing it over her stomach "And I was like baby baby baby oooh "
Mara stands there speechless mic threatening to leave her hand while Luca stands up from the couch and takes the paper to read it. Just as speechless as his wife Luca starts to open and close his mouth, "T-this w-we y-you're pregnant?"
"Y'all are having a baby!" Amaia happily exclaims as the music around them keeps playing but her excitement died down when she sees Mara not moving or saying anything "Mara?"
Mara with glossy eyes drops the mic in her hand and quickly makes her way to Amaia pulling her into a tight hug. At the tightness of the embrace, Amaia starts to worry but hugs back, "You okay Mars?"
Mara nods her head burring her face in Amaia's neck her voice cracking as she speaks up, "I'm just so happy. Thank you. Thank you"
