With reality setting around him, Buck had decided to officially be single and move out of Abby's apartment. Which ended him crashing on Chimney's couch, and one shift after work the two roommates end up driving to a bar
"The world looks so different now that I'm single again," Buck voices looking around the bar and his eyes only caught the women amongst the crowd all having noticed him
"Buck, you've been single for months," Chimney smiles taking his eyes off the game on one of the tv screens before sitting down at a free table
"Yeah, only circumstantially," Buck explains sitting on the sofa side of the table, "I know Abby's been gone for a while, but in my head, we've been together this whole time but now I'm out of her place..."
"And living on my couch," Chimney comments as he replies to a text
"Which I-I really appreciate," Buck sincerely replies trying to maintain eye contact with the firefighter across from him but it was hard since his attention was on his phone screen
"Happy to help. Even though I did initially think you were just coming over to watch the game," Chimney smirks glancing up from his phone
"I'm just... I'm nervous, you know?" Buck tries to explain knowing he didn't have to get into a long explanation because Chimney knew how he wasn't boyfriend material before Abby
Chimney glances up at Buck while the world around them continues to spin, "Are you afraid to get back on the horse?"
"I don't want to revert back to being Buck 1.0. I-I know I'm single Buck again, but I want to be single Buck 2.0. Like if I'd come in here with Abby, I would never have noticed that blonde over there," Buck beings to describe as he glances at the blonde women sitting at the corner of the bar with her legs crossed, "licking the salted rim of her margarita glass while she maintains strong, intimate eye contact."
"Okay, is that really happening?" Chimney comments turning around to see there was a blonde woman making strong eye contact with Buck
"Say I got over there, right? I uh... talk to her. I make a joke, she smiles, we both laugh," Buck continues thinking about how the old him would have handled the situation, "Our-our shoulder touch, there's a moment, I lean in a little close, she doesn't resist. One drink, two compliments later, we end up in bed together having totally meaningless sex"
"Yeah, that sounds awful," Chimney sarcastically scoffs
"I just... I don't want to be that guy again," Buck stresses since it was the worry at the front of his mind
"So don't be," Chimney advises, and before Buck can reply a waitress walks to their table
"Chimney, so nice to see you!" Amaia greets the man with a red scar on his forehead before taking a glance at the man across from him and hesitantly asks "It's Buck, right?"
