Having horrible morning sickness that lasts throughout the day makes Amaia curse at whoever gave pregnant side effects the name morning sickness. Finally listening to Mara, Amaia tells her doctor about her symptoms and being given a prescription to help her not get nauseous around certain food and to eat healthier and a wide range of foods, led to better dates with Buck.
It also led to Mara wanting to throw a baby shower once Amaia gets to her third trimester, and at the news, Amaia's eyes widen.
"You want to have a what?" Amaia asks and not because of all her problems with baby showers/gender reveals and how they have a death rate attached to them. The pregnant women's problem with the event is the fact that she'd be surrounded by the Fernandez-Amari families who she'd only really spent time with at the couple's wedding
"A baby shower!" Mara excitedly answers already having a Pinterest board with so many ideas of what could be done
Vanessa having joined them for dinner laughed at her pregnant friend's facial expression, and says, "So... where is this lovely party happening? San Diego? Someplace in the middle? Ohh, are Luca's uncles going to be there? Cause they are fun drunks... there is going to be booze at the baby shower right?"
"I hadn't thought about the venue," Mara chimes in taking every question seriously making Amaia watch the two and take in the information "Maybe somewhere outside? Or maybe at Luca's parents' house since they have a big backyard. So that would mean that yeah, his uncles would be able to go to the baby shower, or at least in advanced since they live in Mexico"
"Wait! Wait!" Amaia cuts them off from planning an even further "If we are doing this, I need to set some ground rules. Like no one touching my belly! Well... I would let your mom and his touch my belly, but only them. Also, if you are going to do the color gender reveal no uh- what are those things called um not cuetes but the other thing."
"Okay so family-friendly gender reveals gimmick," Vanessa raises a finger to count how many rules Amaia wants "No one touches the belly. No smoke grenades, what else?"
"Now I can't think of anything..." Amaia sadly answers picking up her lemonade to drown her sorrows of having a muddled brain because of her pregnancy and being in the spotlight
"What about the twist and shoot cannons?" Mara asks the girl who's carrying her child
"It's not small confetti, right?" Vanessa asks just thinking about the process of having to clean everything once its time for the party to end
"No it's the size of a quarter I think," Amaia answers none of them having been to a gender reveal party or a baby shower
"Oh I almost forgot Luca had made me a list," Mara excitedly exclaims flipping her phone that rested on the table so she can see her screen
"Una lista," Amaia sighs being familiar with Luca's lists which weren't bad just made a girl think when she didn't want to
That day the three friends spent their weekend lunch planning a gender reveal party and getting to update each other on their lives.
