Vanessa and Amaia had made it to San Diego just as the sun was setting hoping the food had already been started to be cooked. Since they were having the party in a big backyard the lovely couple soon-to-be-parents decided to have a barbeque with plenty of booze for their family members. It seemed they were early since they quickly found parking in on the house driveway.

Since it was a party Amaia decided to dress up in a way she doesn't dress up formally for work. Amaia had found maternity off-shoulder button-front belted dress in mint green making her feel great and confident which contradicted the anxiety going to the party brought on her.

The door being unlocked allowed for the two women to enter the house and walk into the kitchen that smelled like cooked food. Not being able to help herself Amaia gasps, "Please tell me there is food ready I am starving"

Mara's  mom Inez, and father-in-law Tom were in the kitchen chopping up fruits like cucumbers and lemons. The first one to stop working on their task was Inez who cleans her hands with a hand towel while walking over to her daughters' friends, "Girls! You made it. Ah and the baby oh my"

Inez pulls Amaia into a hug happy to see the woman who was going to give her a grandchild. Amaia tries to match the mom's excitement since it was the first time, she'd seen her since getting pregnant. Mara interferes having had practice with a hungry pregnant Amaia, "Mom leave Amaia be, she must be hungry"

Letting go of the hug Inez nods her head, "Of course, the boys should have started cooking by now"

"I'll walk them out," Mara chimes in making her mom in the meantime greet Vanessa with a hug so in waiting for the hellos to be said Mara patiently waits before walking her friends out to the backyard

"The frat guys beat us here, didn't they?" Vanessa asks never having heard Inez call her husband part of the boys

"Yeah, but it's been ages since you all have seen each other so fresh start" Mara tries to cheerfully say

"All I care about right now is there being food before me," Amaia grungily replies not caring about the frat boys and giving them the benefit of the doubt by believing they have grown up

"Luca! Is there any food ready?" Mara calls out for her husband who was cooking on the patio grill

Luca turns away from the grill seeing his lovely wife ready to reply but before he does, to not be rude, greets the two friends beside her, "Vane, Amaia y'all made it! We have a few pieces of chicken done grilling and we finished setting up the chafing dishes so that should all still be hot"

"What are chafing dishes?" Vanessa thankfully asks so Amaia wouldn't

"They are the food warming dishes," Nick one of Luca's friends says and maybe it was his tone or Amaia's baby brain, but his words just irked her

"Boys," Amaia amicably greets the frat boys as if they were younger than her but in reality weren't

"Fucks you really are pregnant," Angel curses making Amaia glare at him while Sonny – whose name really wasn't Sonny but Amaia didn't actually know his name cause no one ever called him anything else – slaps the back of his friends head
