Xiomara

"Is my beautiful daughter ready to pick out her dress for the evening?" My mother asked me as I barely had turned the corner to enter the living room.

"Mama, Hola" I greeted her as I joined her on the couch next to her with a catalog in her hand.

"Buenos Dias, look at the new couture of the season. Choose, perlita!" She grinned at me, looking like she just got proposed to.

I took the magazine in my hand and crossed my legs, " Where is Agustin?"

"He is on the way, have you met his father?"

"She has," Ventori said, walking in with his phone "And before you ask, I am pleased with her but moreover, intrigued"

My father strolled in, walking over to my mother and taking his place on the couch next to her, "This is going to be a beautiful union between two good families"

I looked up at Ventori, curious as to what he thought of my father's hypocrisy but he smiled coldly, He was peculiar. Honest and a liar at the same time

"Good families, yes," Ventori said, coming to sit in the lounge chair in front of me.

"I think the red one would look best on you, what do you think?"My mother said, bringing my attention back to her. I examined the red dress, not liking how revealing it was, mother loved modesty. why would she push me to wear a dress like that?

"Do you even know the theme of the event?"

Camila widened her eyes and looked at Ventori, "Excuse me, Ventori, What is the theme for tomorrow night?"

"I believe it is Greek Mythology so gods and goddesses, let me call my assistant and make sure" He pulled out his phone, and text sounds began vibrating.

I swallowed an empty gust of air and began to choke on it. I coughed, not really believing what I had just heard.  Greek mythology? This has to be a joke...

"Hija, what happened to you?" She patted on my back and I settled down, the shock starting to leave me.

"I am fine so, Greek mythology?" I asked Ventori. Oryon is greek, could he be behind this event? I am going to see him tonight, I could ask him then.

He nodded, still typing away at his phone. My mother mumbled something below her breath, hurrying along the pages to find what I wanted.

"Xiomara, what do you do with your days? Do you work, study?" Ventori asked, leaning back and crossing his legs in an arrogant gesture.

I stuttered, "I go to university during the week and on the weekends, I like to study with my best friend"

"She is an excellent student, she is majoring in finance" My father intervened, putting in his two cents.

Ventori stood his gaze trained on me, " Marvelous, she will be of use in this world and your friend, how long have you known her?"

I cleared my throat, his analysis making me nervous. " Two years"

"Hmm and is this your passion? money?"
