Okay so the inspiration for this was taken from the song 2/14 by The Band Camino. It's probably my favorite love song. Anyway, I was sitting in the car on my way to dinner and hour away from my town and it was foggy. I was listening to my "first dance," (aka songs for my wedding) and this song came on and I closed my eyes and the first thing I thought of was this concept. So, enjoy. I love each and everyone of you and hope you have an amazing day/night/evening/morning or whenever you are reading this!
It seemed like just yesterday when you met your two best friends and now one of them was getting married. Playing outside until the street lights turned on and sleepovers in Tom's treehouse felt like mere seconds ago. Now you sat in the reception of one y'alls weddings.
You all met on the playground at school, you were in the second grade and Tom and Harrison in the fourth. A boy in their class was making fun of you for having to wear bifocals in the second grade. Tom and Harrison noticed and quickly stepped in and not long after you all were inseparable. Not much has changed from that day besides maybe your height and age but you all still were attached at the hip.
"All those amongst you who know Lindsey (Harrison's bride) well will know that she is a wonderful and caring woman. She deserves a good husband, thank God Harrison married her before she found one!" Tom said, smiling as everyone laughed at the beginning of his best man speech. He truly was in his element; lights, laughing, and all eyes on him. You looked up at the brunette you had the joy of calling your best friend. His eyes lit up talking about your other best friend, recalling great memories.
"All I can say is, Lindsey you picked well. I wish you both a happy and beautiful marriage." Tom finished, sitting on the side of Harrison. His eyes quickly searched the room looking for you. He was happy to be met with yours, you flashed him a smile assuring him he did well.
The night continued to go on. You sat with Tom's family and enjoyed a few drinks and dinner. At one point Harry got up and decided to play photographer for some people. Soon the first dance was to come, you were excited to see Lindsey's dress, she specifically bought this one because it twirled when she spun.
"That was a beautiful first dance, right ladies and gentlemen!" The dj said into his mic, the crowd started to cheer. It truly was a beautiful first dance. "Now ladies and gents if you would like to join the happy couple on the dance floor now is your chance." The dj encouraged more people to get up and dance.
You smiled as married couples, friends and even children got up to dance. You looked at your table and Dom and Nikki had gotten up to dance. Your heart melted seeing Dom and Nikki dance together it was truly the cutest. The twins had gone to get more to drink and Paddy was talking to one of Lindsey's cousins he went to school with. You looked up at the wedding parties table to find Tom but he was gone. You couldn't seem to find him.
"Guess who?" You could easily tell it was Tom because he was the only one who was notorious for coming up behind you and covering your eyes and his voice was much higher than anyone else.
"Let me guess...is it...Tom?" You asked, turning to look at the brunette behind you.
"You guesses correct," he flashed that perfect smile of his and stuck out his hand to you, "Come 'n."
"Where are we going?" You asked, looking at his jutted out hand suspiciously.
"Trust me." He said, as you put your hand in his.
"What you doing?" You asked, as he pulled you into dance floor.
"I wanna dance with you, is that such a crime." He said, pulling you in closer to him. He gently took your left hand into his and placed is other on your waist. "I..is this alright?"
You nodded, carefully placing your right hand on his shoulder. Every movement made by either of you felt like it was in slow motion. It seemed so intimate but was just two friends dancing at another's wedding. You smiled as a familiar song came on through the speakers. It was a bit more upbeat but you were too afraid to pull away.
Tom noticed the smile on your face. "I asked Joey if he could play this song, I know you love it." He said, making a bit of space between the two of you so you could dance a bit faster.
"How do you know I like this song so much?" You asked as he let go of your waist to gently spin you.
"Because every time it comes on in the car you turn it up and shout the lyrics." Tom said pulling you closer to him.
"You're right," you say poking your tongue to the inside of you cheek.
"Might I add, you look absolutely stunning tonight." Tom said, making butterflies erupt in your stomach.
"Thanks, you clean up pretty nicely too." You complimented the boy back.
More songs played and you and Tom just continued to dance as if no one was watching. Come on Eileen came on and everybody watched as you and Tom made a fool of yourselves but you couldn't care less. Your shoes were long forgotten and Tom had taken off his bow tie. Your head was resting on his shoulder as you swayed to the music, you just listened to his heart beat.
"Hey ugh...do you maybe want to get out of here?" Tom asked, stepping back to look at your face.
"Sure, where are we going?" You asked groggily, tired from the evening events.
"Upstairs it's almost one in the morning," Tom said, as he held your hand walking you to his family at your table.
"Fine," you yawned and sat back down in your seat to put your heels back on.
"Where are you both off to?" Nikki asked as she looked at Tom who was standing behind your chair.
"We're going back to my room for the night, its too late for her to drive home." Tom said, as you stood up to walk with him. "Ready?" He asked, he put his hand out for you to grab.
"As I'll ever be." You smiled at the boy and headed towards the hallway for the elevator. It was nice that Tom was able to stay in the hotel because he was part of the wedding party.
"You know I think you look stunning," Tom said, still holding on to your hand.
"You've already said that but I appreciate the compliment," You said, giggling at Tom. This was probably the longest you'd ever held his hand for.
"I truly mean it." He said, walking out of the elevator towards his room at the end of the hall. He opened the door to the large room with a king size bed and a balcony. You immediately walked towards the big French doors that lead to the balcony overlooking London.
"Do you wanna go out?" Tom asked, to which you only shook your head yes as you were too mesmerized by the city below. He twisted the handle on the doors and you both walked out into the crisp early morning air.
"So uh...listen, I really wanted to talk to you about something." Tom said, lifting your other hand into his. You gently looked into his golden brown eyes. "I have been wanting to say this for a long time and I keep meaning to do it but I keep freaking myself out and over think it and I just want it..."
"Tommy, you're mumbling." You whispered just enough for him to hear. His nerves calmed down just from hearing you use his nickname. You were the only one allowed to call him that.
"I...I think I'm in love with you. No, no I know I'm in love with you and I understand if you don't feel the same way I just really needed to tell you that." He said, hope filling his face as he watched you process this information. Even though he spilled some shocking news to you, you never once thought of letting go of his hands. "It's always been you and always will be you and I just don't know. When we were dancing earlier I knew for sure that I liked you. I just can't seem to see myself without you." Tom rambled on.
You smashed your lips onto his which stopped his talking. After the shock of what just happened wore off he kissed you back. It was the most intimate kiss you had ever had. He gently slotted his hands behind your ears and started playing with your hair.
"I like you too." You said, giggling out of pure happiness.
Hey guys, this isn't my best work but I sort of liked the concept. But I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what you think about it in the comments. Love you all!
