Chapter TWENTY EIGHT

_____

Aliyah

I woke up with sweat coating my forehead. I was sweating furiously, but I was still cold from the hospital's air blowing in through the vents above my head. I wiped the sweat from my face with the back of my hand as I thought about the bad dream that I'd just had. In the dream they had pulled the plug on Andre yesterday and I was empty. I sighed and closed my eyes as I remembered what really happened yesterday during that time.

"I love you Andre," I whispered those last four words to him as she was about to hit the switch and cut off the life support that would make Andre completely dead to the world, but I felt that same feeling of his hand twitch and this time I knew I wasn't crazy. This was real and before I knew it my voice filled the room and everyone jumped and looked at me with wide eyes.

"Wait !" I shouted at the top of my lungs as I held my hand out to stop her. She removed her hand from by the switch and looked at me confused. I breathed a sigh of relief before speaking up once again. I'd thought it was all too late, but it wasn't just yet. This was the sign that I'd been looking for and it came just in time before he was gone.

"He just moved his hand, I swear he just grabbed my hand." I said as I began to breathe heavily. I had perked up just that quick and I was happy about this slight progress. A small smile lit up my face, as she simply looked at me like I was crazy, but that's when I felt it again, and again, and again. The smile grew each time he gripped onto my hand.

"See, look." I yelled and indeed she looked down to see him squeezing my hand repeatedly. My smile grew and I kissed his hand as she looked at him and then back at me in awe. I could tell that she was shocked and amazed by the astonished look on her face.

"He did indeed move, I'll be right back." she said and quickly left out of the room. I wanted to shout in excitement, but I didn't want to get too happy just yet. I smiled brightly as I held onto his hand and looked down at him. Ava placed and hand on my shoulder and smiled weakly at me.

"I told you everything would be okay." she said and winked at me. I smiled and hugged her from the side as the doctor came back into the room with a smile on her face. I was getting happier as Andre kept squeezing my hand over and over again. I hope this was a sign that he would wake up and this time for good. He gripped my hand and I did the same like my life depended on it.

"Okay, I'll have to ask everyone to step out of the room for a while. You'll be allowed back inside once we note this progress and get him back on his medication properly. You all should be very happy because the Lord works in mysterious ways." she said and began to usher all of us out of the hospital room. I kissed him once more before going into the waiting room with everyone else.

I grabbed Amani from Aaron's arms and hugged her with a smile. She looked at me funny, while I simply hugged the living shit out of her. I was very happy with these results and I couldn't control myself. This had to be a miracle or something and right now I was on cloud 9 and nothing could bring me down. This was a sign from God and I was taking it and running. Andre gave us progress which mean't he could stay on there longer and he could possible wake up. I had my high hopes again.

"Mommy, why awe you so happy now?" she asked as she looked at me skeptically. I laughed softly and pulled away just a bit so I could see her face. I kissed her forehead and sat down in one of the chairs in the waiting room. I looked at her with a big smile on my face.

"Baby, daddy moved. He could be coming home to us soon." I said excitedly, but that only confused her even more, I could tell by the look on her face. She tilted her head to the side and looked at me. Her small arms crossed over her chest and she frowned.
