Chapter ONE

"Is it good baby?" I asked as I watched my boyfriend of 9 months devour the food that I had prepared for him just minutes ago. Okay, well that was a big fat lie. My mama had come over and made the food. This was a 'don't ask, don't tell' situation. He knew I didn't cook, so he didn't even question it. As long as he enjoys it that's all that really matters to me. I already knew he'd had a long day at work doing something illegal that I didn't approve of. I didn't complain much because he always got touchy and brought his father up when we discussed his chosen occupation.

It's been 6 months since we graduated from high school, and boy have things changed drastically. I'm currently in school for nursing. It's my dream career and I'm determined to reach my goal and become what I want to be in life. Andre on the other hand is a whole new level. He didn't attend one day of college before he decided it wasn't for him. When the time came around he made the dumbest decision ever and that was to continue the life of a drug dealer. I was infuriated that he'd chosen the illegal life over college, but it was his life to live. I loved him more than anything and I tried to reason with him, but he wouldn't budge one bit. He claims that he'll have to carry on the 'legacy' of his grandfather, and I left the topic alone after that.

I'm currently 8 months pregnant and I'm bigger than a fucking house. I'm even bigger than my mother was before she popped out my little brother, Marion Amari Montgomery. He was 4 months now and he was big already. He reminded me so much of my older brother and my father mixed into one. I helped out a lot with him to prepare for my own child, and also to be there because my dad wasn't. He was serving out his sentence like a real man would, or because he didn't have a choice. Something was fishy about the case and we were still trying to get to the bottom of it. Even though it hurts for him to be there and not here, I know God does everything for a reason. Hopefully he'll serve some time & be let out for good behavior, but that still wouldn't be any time soon. My grandmother had moved into the house to help with my mom as well. She took it the worst when she found out, but she was slowly starting to regain herself.

As for my friends, Paris is attending college along with me majoring in business. She wanted to open up her own store one day and I was happy for her. My girl had dreams and I was behind her with it completely. Trent on the other hand followed right behind his stupid ass friend. Those two were together all the time now. Selling drugs was what they had come too once again. I'd think both of them would be completely done with the life after everything that happened within the past couple of months, but it didn't change anything in their minds. They were good at what they did, and easily took over my dad's empire. They worked along with my Uncle Mac now. He didn't want the empire to die, so he let them help out a lot. He was more over the operation, but he let them make major decisions as if they were too.

"Hell yeah, I was hungry ass hell too bae." he said not even bothering to look up. He kept his eyes fixed on his plate as he continued to stuff the steak, potatoes, and salad down his throat like he hadn't ate all day. He was so caught up in the game that he forgot to eat sometimes. I didn't bother him though. I had hard enough time keeping my own health up as well as my child, I can't take care of a grown ass man that's capable of doing so his self. I have food on the table and I clean this big ass house, while he's out ripping and running the streets with Trent like he's still in high school.
