Chapter TWO

_____

Aliyah

My eyes felt heavy, too heavy to even open. I felt dead, but I knew I was alive. My arm was burning and I could feel the tightness of the bandage that wrapped around it. I couldn't remember much of what had happened before this. I didn't know where I was, who I was with, or what had happened to me. I had a lot of unanswered questions that swirled around in my head, simply awaiting to be answered.

Around me I could here a beeping nose. It wasn't slow, nor was it fast. It beat at a steady pace, and I assumed that it was my heart. I wanted nothing more than to open my eyes and to see where I was, but my eyes were heavy. I was a very stubborn girl, so I pried them open with my finger tips. Once they were opened, I closed them back immediately. The light was too bright in here. I caught a glimpse of nothing but white stuff around me. I had come to the conclusion that I was in a hospital, somewhere I'd grown to hate over the past couple of months.

I was about to attempt and open them again when a loud piercing scream left the back of my throat, and I jolted up in the bed from pain. My hands flew to my stomach and I held onto it tight as a wave of nothing but pain hit me. I could hear shuffling and voices around me, but they were all blurred. The feeling that just came upon me was enough to drown out anything and everything around. Once it started to go away I could finally open my eyes. My mother was right by my side with my little brother on her hip. Andre's mom was on the other side with Aaron, and Paris stood at the end of the bed. They were all crowded around me, but the one person I was looking for wasn't there. He was no where to be found and that slightly dissapointed me.

"Baby, are you okay?" my mother asked as she looked down at me with tears in her eyes, she grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly. I nodded at her, unable to really form words. I found my voice to utter the first question that would be followed by many later on in the day. I just wanted this answer as of right now.

"Where's Andre?" I managed to get out as I looked between all of them. We sat in silence before his mother finally spoke up. I was glad because I was becoming irritated with the nonstop silence that once consumed us.

"He stepped outside with Trent. He was torn up about everything baby girl. We tried to convince him that you were okay, but he still acted strange. I don't know why he's acting that way, but I'm glad you and my grand baby are okay sweetheart" she said and smiled down at me weakly. My mind wandered, because I had no clue of what had happened to me. All I remember was going to the store after getting mad at Andre. Everything after that was a mystery to me, but hopefully I'd soon remember.

"What exactly happened to me?"

"We don't really know the whole story behind the incident but you're very lucky thank God. You were grazed by a bullet on your arm and you went into a sudden shock. You were unconscious for a couple of hours, but it was nothing that could harm the both of you too badly. By the grace of God you missed that bullet Aliyah. God wasn't ready to see the both of you just yet." she explained to me. As much as I should be crying right now, I didn't. I just closed my eyes shut tightly and sent a quick 'thank you' up to the man above. He was the reason I was still here and I was happy that he spared me & my child's life.
