Chapter TWELVE

_____

Andre

"Aight, this the last one and its a wrap for you bud. I got to get home to the Mrs. I suppose to been left 30 minutes ago. Liyah gone have my head because of you." I told Aaron as we proceeded to start up yet another round of WWE. We were playing this wrestling game that I'd bought him for his new Xbox one. He'd been bugging me about it for a minute now, so I went ahead and bought it for him like the best big brother I am.

"Yeah yeah yeah, sis will understand." he said as he went on to choose his player. Trent was playing with us too, so it was a triple match or some shit. I wasn't with this wrestling shit, but Aaron liked it, so I guess I had to get down with it too. I had to start back fucking with my blood more. We hang out at least once a month, but that's not enough. Little man growing up, and without my pops being here, I knew I had to be the one to give him all the talks that my dad gave me. Hopefully, he actually listens, because I didn't. We gone have to make some shake though. It's gone be me , him, and his niece now.

"Damn, get back man. Y'all lame for this" Trent said as Aaron & I double teamed his ass. We were both teaming up on him to get him out of the ring. It was working too because after a while his player, Randy Orton was thrown over the rope onto the mat. He was out of the match and now it was down to Aaron and I.

My phone started ringing so I paused the game real quick. I ignored Aaron's whining as I pulled out my phone from my pocket. An unknown number popped up on the screen and I answered it. I wasn't fond of these unknown numbers, but they caught me in a generous mood on today. This shit better be important too.

"Yo," I said loudly through the phone's speaker as I held it to my ear. I waited patiently for the caller to speak up.

"Is this Andre Holmes?" someone asked and I pulled it away looking at it confused. I wasn't one to give out information over the phone, especially to an unknown person. This could have been a set up for all I know. Feds be lurking and waiting for niggas to slip up through the wire. I wasn't one to do that though.

"Depends on who's asking."

"This is Dr.Helen Jones from Mercy Hospital, and I'm calling in concerns of your daughter Amani Holmes and her mother Aliyah Sanchez. If this is Andre Holmes, we need you to get down to the hospital to discuss their conditions sir, I'm not allowed to go into further detail over the phone" the woman said on the phone, but  I wasn't hearing her after the two names she called. I was frozen on spot after she mentioned Aliyah & Amani. I didn't know how to react to that.

My mind raced as to why they would be at the hospital this time of night. It was damn near 10 o'clock and they would have been sleep around this time. I knew something had to be up. She said I was needed to discuss their conditions, so something must have went wrong at the crib. I couldn't help but to think the worst as I stood to my feet and headed for the door of the house. I didn't bother to pick up a jacket or anything else as I opened the door and then realized that I had to ride with Trent.

"I'm on the way." I mumbled into the phone before ending the call. I stuck my phone in my back pocket. By the time I turned around to go back inside to get Trent, he was already behind me with his keys in hand. Aaron had gotten his coat already and was ready for whatever. This was what I needed and I was glad. They didn't ask questions, they were just ready. I didn't even bother to wake my mom. I'd call her once I saw what was up.

"Man, we got to get to Mercy. Something happened with Amani & Liyah." I said as my voice strained a little bit. This shit couldn't be happening right now, it was Christmas and here I am going to the hospital before the day is even over with. I wanted to scream out in frustration, but I kept my composure as we got into Trent's car. He started it up and we were on the road towards an unknown fate.
