Chapter SIXTEEN

_____

Aliyah

"Do you have all of her things?" My mother asked as she sat on the sofa holding Amani in her arms. I was getting ready to leave my mom's place and head back over to the apartment where Andre was. I had to make a few stops along the way, and this was one of them. My mother insisted on keeping Amani for the night and I decided to let her do so. Andre and I could use the alone time tonight, it has been a long time for the both of us, and as the ratchets say, I needed some dick in my life. I was skeptical at first about leaving my Amani, but then just gave in. It was my mother after all, she'd done a perfect job with me.

"Yes, everything is in the diaper bag. Extra clothes, socks, pampers, formula, everything is there." I said as I looked down at my daughter. I took her from my mom's arms and held her close to my chest. I kissed her on her cheek as she looked up at me with those beautiful brown eyes. This was one of the few times she stayed awake for more than 30 minutes. My princess loved to sleep her little life away.

"Mama loves you baby girl, be good for granny. I'll see you tomorrow," I said and kissed her forehead one last time before handing her back to my mom. I knew I had to make the step and leave now, because if not I'd end up being here all night, and it was already nearing 6. I had to learn to leave her sometime, and who better than my own mom?

"Well, I'll be back in the morning to get her. Call me if you have any trouble." I slipped back into my black pea-coat and buttoned it up fully. The January air was definitely something this year and with the trouble I've had in the past month with my lungs, I wasn't going to take any chances with getting sick.

"Liyah, I've been a mother to 3 children, I know how to take care of a baby. I won't have any trouble, now go home. I love you and we'll face-time you later on so you can that she's okay. Tell my son I said hello." she said and smiled. I shook my head and laughed as I left, after telling her the same thing.

It was almost 6 and midnight black outside. The temperature was dropping, all I wanted to do was go home and get under the covers with my man. I knew my baby was taken care of, so I had no worries for the night as I got into Andre's car and proceeded to take off, but he insisted on calling me first. I answered as I started the car and pulled out of the driveway.

"Hello?" I said into the phone as I could hear the loud Migo's song playing in the background. I shook my head just as the music cut off and his voice rang out through the phone.

"Wassup, baby? Where you at?" he spoke and I could tell he was doing something. His voice was off and I knew it. I could tell when Andre was up to something, and he definitely was right about now. The fact that he encouraged me to let my mom keep Amani only made my suspicion grow.

"I'm leaving my moms. Andre, what are you up too?" He laughed after I was done speaking.

"Man, I ain't up to shit. Just bring your ass home, now. I miss you."

"I've only been gone an hour, and watch who you're talking to." I smirked.

"So, I can't miss you in an hour? & Yes ma'am. Now can you come home, please Mrs.Holmes?" I smiled at the way he put that and made a U-turn in the middle of the road. I was going to head over to Publix to pick up some grocery, but my man wanted me home, so I was going to go home. The food could wait until later, daddy was calling now.

"My last name is Sanchez buddy."

"Not for long. Baby. I'm like so serious, can you come home. I'm lonely and shit and I miss my girlfriend. I'm not supposed to be away from my girl on our damn 11 month anniversary."  That statement had me grinning from ear to ear. I knew that he remembered, but actually hearing him tell me made me feel good. We were one month away from a year and I was excited as hell. We had to do something big for our 1 year anniversary, because we've been through so much.
