Sunday
Today's Sunday. Toby normally enjoys going out with us, but things have changed after that accident. Instead of going out, I'm at the hospital guarding my son in case that something happens. Then the nurse told me that Dr. Frost will arrive in a few minutes to check Toby's condition. I asked the nurse what Dr. Frost name was, she said Dr. Elsa Frost. That name sounds familiar, her name sounds like my high school best friend before we got separated and lost contact. Then the doctor came in, she has this strawberry blonde hair and bright blue eyes and gorgeous pink colored lips. I was shocked when I saw her. I asked her, "Elsa, is that you?"
"Sorry, but do I know you?"
"It's me, Lisa, Lisa Antoine. Don't you recognize me?"
"Oh my god! It's been a long time." Elsa hugged me for we lost contact for a very long time. "How are you doing?" Elsa asked.
"Well you see, my son is on a coma right now."
"I see, I'm in charge with Toby and his current state. But by the looks of it, all of his vital organs are normal and fMRI is normal too, there's no sign of why he's been like this."
"Is there something that we can do?"
"I'm afraid, we need to consult this with our neurology specialist before I give you an exact opinion. Would you like to have coffee with me?" Elsa asked.
"Of course, I think I needed a cup of joe after all the things that happened to me." Elsa and I went to the cafeteria to get a cup of brewed coffee. "So, how's your life going?" Elsa asked.
"Well, I'm currently divorcing my husband because I found out that he's been cheating with me."
"Men, when will they ever learn! Right?"
"Yeah, and I have these evidence of him cheating on me and yet he still has the audacity to lie in front of me. How long have you been here?"
"You mean, here in Oregon?"
"Yeah."
"I've been practicing here for 10 years, how about you? What kept you busy?"
"I'm a banker now and I moved to this state because of my husband, now that I'm divorcing him, I think of coming back to New York. But with our current condition right now, it's impossible for us to travel."
"You know I've been wondering the same thing."
"What?"
"Your son's condition is similar to my nephew Zack's condition."
"What is that?"
"They're both in coma, but all of their organs are fine yet their brain is absent but normal when being scanned."
"So what does that mean?"
"To be honest, I don't know. I'm starting to lose hope that my dear Zack would make it. And if medical bills arise, then I might force to leave him to die."
"Don't lose hope, Elsa. You're a good doctor, and always remember that I still consider you as a friend so don't lose hope."
"You're right. I won't."
"I think we should go back, because they might call me because I'm on shift right now."
"That's a good idea. It's nice to seeyou again, Elsa." We hugged each other and left the cafeteria. I went back tosee my son. Nothing changed. He's still in coma. I'm sure wherever he is, he'sfighting to come back for me.
