There was no way he was serious. Jacob continued to smirk down at you as your mouth hung open. That was something. You had heard rumors that Jacob was more... animalistic than his other siblings, but this was something else. John was more about lust and pleasure, while Jacob was more dominant. He wanted to see people squirm under him. He enjoyed the thrill of the chase just as much as his other hunters.
Your brothers have only talked about him a little at home. It was as if saying his name would summon him. He was harsher towards his followers than the other harelds. There were daily hunts, training, diets, and the most worrying, more alphas. This place seemed like it was a completely separate group. They were dedicated to Jacob rather than the project. They were encouraged to show their other side. What really shocked you was the fact that they could have sex or get drunk. It was blasphemous to hear it. The first time it was mentioned, your mother put her hands over your ears and scream at all three of them. Your brothers looked guilty, but your older sister got a kick out of it.
You barely got a word in before Jacob backed out of the room and closed the door. You were basically a nobody here. There was no other Omegas you could smell. Just the strong musk of Alphas and the clean scent of Betas. Jacob's scent practically overpowered everyone else's. He was definitely the top dog here.
Lexi gave a small whimper when she watched him leave. You hadn't seen her in weeks. Who knows what attachments she's made in that time. She knew Jacob for years. She was his judge. You ran your hand down her head and onto her back in a long pet. She leaned into your side as she became comfortable on the floor. It looks like he'll be while.
Zachariah said he would come back. Maybe you would see Michael and Samuel. The last time you saw them all together was at the celebration when you became a pack member. You had only seen Anne at Faith's bunker for a few minutes. It must be hard for your mom to not see her pups. She must be worried sick not having you in the house.
You two were very close. You've spent hours with her in the kitchen as she made food for various events. Talking about how a few other women were breaking some rules at a sermon. It almost felt normal. Is that how it feels like to grow up outside the Project? It was just so different. There were no rules to follow. You could do what you want. God didn't pick a mate for you.
Better yet, many people weren't werewolves. The Project at Eden's Gate was one of the largest packs in the area. You couldn't even imagine how many members there were at this point. All you could remember from Georgia was that there were only a few of you. Even less when you moved here.
The sound of Lexi's soft snores calmed you down just a little. You took time to walk around Jacob's room, making sure not to mess with anything. There were no items of personal value it seemed. He didn't seem like the type of guy to have knick-knacks. He had a few pocket knives on his desk along with a single photo of him with his brothers. It was a copy of the same photo from John's house. All three looking tired, but happy. It was in a different frame than the gold one at the ranch. It was wood, and it looked handmade. With rough designs depicting mountains and trees. Jacob probably made it.
You slowly picked up the picture to get a better look when a knock came from the door. You almost dropped the frame before you could examine it closer. You hastily put it back before facing the door. Lexi hadn't moved, and she still continued to sleep. What a great attack dog.
"Sis, are you in there?" It sounded like Samuel. His voice was much deeper than his brothers'. He slowly opened the door and his identical face popped into the room. You gave a nervous smile as you stepped away from the desk. Thank god it didn't break or you would be skinned alive by now. This whole place had that kinda vibe. One wrong move and you would be toast.
