Summary- The thiam we were robbed of. You know what I mean:)
"Are they still there?"
Liam gave a nod of his head.
"Look I'm not dying for you" Theo said to him, keeping his heartbeat steady.
"I'm not dying for you either" Liam replied almost too quickly. Theo heard the small skip in his heartbeat, and frowned a little. Liam, evidently noticed it too.
"You didn't answer my question earlier" He said quietly.
Theo met his eyes. "What?"
"I asked you why you kept trying to save me", Liam pressed, with a touch of curiosity in his eyes.
To be completely honest, Theo hadn't had an answer to it then. Liam had asked him the question he had asked himself over and over. Why did he keep trying to save Liam? He had initially denied it, trying to convince himself that he only did it to save himself. So that he could stay off the pack's radar. He knew that Liam was possibly the only thing keeping him out of hell. That and the fact that the sword was in many pieces. But he was sure Scott would find a way to fix it somehow if he felt that Theo had been allowed to be alive for too long.
But he couldn't lie to himself for long. Why was it, that he can lie to everyone else without a second thought, but never to himself? He had been thankful when Liam immediately moved off the question earlier and had instead settled on throwing insults and jabs at him. That he could handle. In a strange way the fights and arguments with Liam were safe and familiar to him. Maybe because, he felt that there was less venom in Liam's comments than there used to be. Now they just argued for the sake of arguing.
Liam was still waiting patiently for his answer. Well, maybe not so patiently. He was tapping his foot on the ground and narrowing his eyes at Theo.
Theo took an unconcious step closer, his gaze flickered down to the beta's lips, before he caught himself. He thought over Liam's question once again, realising that he finally had an answer. This angry beta in front of him had done the impossible. He had made Theo care. Possibly even love.
He looked more closely at Liam's curious expression, taking a few more steps closer to him. The werewolf hadn't backed off, which he took as a good sign. He moved his face closer to Liam's, so close he could feel the beta's shaky breaths tickling his face.
"what are you doing?" Liam rasped quietly, his eyes wide and heart beating so fast Theo worried that it might jump out of his chest.
"Answering your question", whispered Theo, with a small smile.
He closed the gap and pushed his lips into Liam's in a soft, slightly hesitant kiss. Liam froze on contact, but right as Theo was about to pull away he relaxed into the kiss and moved his lips against the chimera's. For a moment, all else was forgotten. There were no hunters, no war, no supernatural, no chimera and werewolf. It was just them. Theo and Liam wrapped up in their own world that had narrowed to only the two of them and nothing else. It was bliss.
Then, the perfect moment was gone and they were pulled into reality as they broke away, their faces still inches apart. Both breathing heavily. Both smiling widely.
"Don't you go die on me little wolf" Theo whispered after a while.
"Likewise Raeken" Liam replied, with a smile and so much sincerity in his eyes that Theo wanted to grab him and kiss him again. Hunters be damned.
"You ready?" asked Theo, and Liam gave him a short nod.
"Then let's fight" he said, flashing the beta a small grin.
And fight they did.
