[A/N: Well, it took me a minute to get this chapter written. I'm still new to the s3xy scenes and there is definitely one at the end of the chapter. As always, please excuse the typos I may have missed during my read through. It's shorter than the last few but, I still hope it's enjoyable. Happy reading!]

—Jax—

"Did it seem like Tara was acting strange to you?" Charlie asked as we walked back to my bike after we left the hospital. I sighed, remembering the conversation I had with Tara before we left.

"Does it matter?"

"Not really but, she seemed kind of freaked out."

"Are you going to obsess over her like my mother has been?" The words came out harsher than I meant them to and I felt her glare at me.

"No," she said and I felt the attitude she threw into the one word. I internally flinched. "I just tend to notice when there is something going on with someone. I don't have to like her to be concerned that something may actually be wrong."

"She's probably just upset because I had a conversation with her after we got there."

"I know that. You are a lot of things but sometimes, subtle isn't one of them. I think something else is going on. She didn't look upset. She looked scared and I know that wasn't from you."

"Look," I said as we stopped in front of my bike. "Last I heard, you wanted her to stay away from me."

"I do!"

"Then why even give it a second thought?"

"Forget it," she muttered and crossed her arms, looking away from me. I stepped closer, grabbing her elbows and pulling her until she was closer.

"No, you normally wouldn't care. Especially because it's Tara. Talk to me, babe."

"I can't explain it, Jax. I don't want her sniffing around you or anything to do with you but when I looked at her before we left, she was genuinely afraid. It was a fear I recognized and I can't help but wonder if something is really wrong. I can't stand the bitch but that doesn't mean I want anything to happen to her." I lifted my hands from her elbows and ran my fingers through her hair, pulling her closer so I could kiss her forehead.

"I love that you have such a compassionate heart. I'm sorry for snapping at you."

"It's okay. I know it doesn't make sense."

"That's still not an excuse for talking to you like that. I will stay away from her, especially after my not-so-nice way of telling her to back off. If this is something that continues to bother you, I will stay out of the way if you want to reach out to her. But, if there is something she's caught up in, please don't get involved."

"I won't. I don't even know if I'm going to do anything. It's just a weird feeling I have."

I felt her wrap her arms around me and I held her closer.

"I know. I also know there would be no stopping you even if I wanted to. I love that, even though you can't stand her, you don't want anything to happen to her. Or to Wendy. How you were raised in a biker club and still be so kind, I have no idea."

"I don't know either. I'm afraid it's going to bite me in the ass one day because these women still want you."

"Well, they don't have a chance in hell so long as I have you." I kissed the top of her head and she squeezed me tighter. I pulled away after a moment. "Come on. Let's go back to the clubhouse."
