I slipped my arms trough the sleeves of my red flannel as I walked down the stairs, my pants unbuttoned. I need to be very quiet and if I get caught, I'm dead. R.I.P me. I sighed of relief when I made it to the door in silence and grabbed my shoes from the floor, putting them on once I was out of the house.

Then, I ran. Luckily for me, Ashton's gift wasn't huge and not easily breakable.

Like always, we meet up at the beach. It's closed but it's not like we're going for a midnight swim.

I hope we're not.

Ashton was dressed in black jeans just like me since it's night time and the weather is colder along with a holey Slipknot tee shirt. I smiled as I saw him and walked up to the Australian.

''Took you long,'' he remarked.

''I know. My parents just went to bed. I had to sneak out and get dressed too.''

''You didn't have to dress up for me, Luke. Sleepwear are alright.''

''I'm not going out in my boxers, sorry to crush your hopes,'' I smirked.

He hummed and led me to the sandy area. On the beach, a large blanket was spread on the sand near the water but not to far so it'd get wet. I spotted Ashton's backpack on the blanket along with a few other things I couldn't make out from here.

We sat down, facing the water. ''I'll go first,'' declared Ashton.

I was glad he decided to go first because I am a little nervous about my gift choice.

He handed me a box he took from inside his backpack - it was quite big. ''This is for you.''

Like a child, I ripped off the wrapping paper and opened the box, revealing a stuffed kangaroo with a baby kangaroo in it's pouch. If anyone else had given me this for Christmas I woul've been insulted because I am not a child anymore. Toys for Christmas is over. But this is Ashton. He know how much I love kangaroos and how excited I was to see then when I arrived here.

''There's something else in the bottom too.''

I raised a brow and digged in the bottom of the box, putting out a a piece of black fabric: a tee shirt. ''I love this band! How did you know?'' I asked, seeing the Blink 182 tee shirt.

''You told me when we were driving the other day when we went hiking.''

I know the price of this tee shirt and it's not cheap. It's a limited edition one. A guilt feeling suddenly crashed on me. ''All this must've been expensive, I can't believe you spent that much on me...''

''Money is not important. All that matter is that you like what I go you. You like them, right?'' I nodded eagerly. Of course I like them. ''So everything's good. Your turn now.''

I sighed. I tried to push this moment away but I can't escape it.

''I don't know you since a long time but I thought this was pretty representative of us so I bought it,'' I said, handing the small box to Ashton.

I bite my lip nervously as I watched the surfer rip the thin paper, putting it on the side. Then, he took off the little box's lip and pulled out a silver necklace with a small surfboard pendant. ''I know it's a little girly but-''

He cut me off with a kiss, taking me by surprise. ''I love it. You were right, this is really representative of us.'' He grinned, kissing me one last time before pulling away.

''I have a matching one, too,'' I admitted, scratching the back of my head. This gift is definitely too cheesy. I should've bought him something else..
