''You should start packing your bags, Sweetie. We're leaving after school,'' reminded my mum as I was finishing getting ready for school.
I nodded. ''I've started last night, I only need to pack the rest of my clothes that's on my bed and I'm done. Oh, and my bathroom stuff too.''
''I don't think you can take these on the plane. There's a limit with liquid products for planes. We'll buy you new ones in Australia. Just pack your toothbrush and toothpaste. You'll need those.''
''Okay, mum.''
Today is the day my parents and I are flying off ot Australia and also the last day of school before Christmas break. I tried convincing my mum I should stay home today and skip because no teachers gives tests before breaks, that's a bit dumb, but she forced me to go. No luck for me I guess.
After eating breakfast quickly, it was already time to go to school. They should's ve gave us a snow day or something. No one wants to go to school a few days before Christmas.
I slipped on my black, wool coat and boots and finished with my grey beanie, fingerless gloves - they're cooler than normal gloves - and scarf. I waved goodbye to my mother and took my backpack before leaving for school.
''Hey, Miranda,'' I greeted my one and only girl friend in Brooklyn - sad isn't it?
For the ones who said being gay will makes everyone beg for you to be their gay best friend isn't true. I'm gay and only one girl is friend with me. Miranda and I are best friends since the start of high school. We met in gym class. And if you thought she was the klutz, you are wrong once again because I was. Well, she not good at sports either but she's better than me.
''Hey there Lukey Poo,'' she replied, sticking her tongue out at me.
I cringed at the nickname. ''Don't call me that, it's embarrassing, Randy.''
She rolled her eyes and pulled at her beanie so it'd cover her ears better. ''Stop whining, will you. I'll call you whatever I want because you won a freaking trip to Aussie and didn't invite me. And say I thought we were best friends..''
I shook my head, chuckling at her. ''It's a family trip. As long as I know, you're not a member of my family.''
''Practically! I'm always over at your place and often sleepover too. It's like we're siblings. We both have blue eyes, blond hair and are really tall.'' The wind blew in our faces, making us close our eyes. ''Ugh, I hate winter!'' she complained. ''And I hate you, dickhead. I would've really loved to go in Australia with you. Tanning on the beach in that cute bikini I bought the other day and spying on cute guys,'' she whined.
I hummed. ''Yeah, that'd be fun. Except for the part where you're present,'' I teased.
She shoved me, making me almost slip on a sneaky ice patch on the sidewalk and laughed. I swear if I get hit by a car Miranda'd be laughing on her butt instead of calling for help.. She adores laughing at my two left feet self.
School was boring. All we did was draw Christmas stuff and sing Christmas carols - we're in high school, seriously? We also have this thing at my school where people can send each other Christmas cards. I sent one to Miranda and Noah and got one from the two of them. Miranda's card was really cute. She drew the both of us on the front - she had great sketching talent - and wrote me a cute, thoughtful message inside. When I received it, I felt bad for sending her a crappy mouse with a Santa hat on her head.. As for Noah, he simply wrote 'Merry Christmas Blondie' in big, bubble letters.
''When are you leaving?'' asked Noah during lunch.
''I'm gonna miss you so much, Lukey Poo,'' she pouted, launching herself at me, crushing me as she tried to give me a hug. ''Who will I annoy daily and go to shopping with during the Christmas break now?''
