"KID THERE'S BETTER THINGS OUT THERE THAN WINE."
EVERYONE WATCHES THE DOOR OPEN IN SHOCK, NO ONE MOVED NOR SPOKE.
Seeing the door wide open made Riley believe there could be safety in the building. The girl's eyes glued to the bright light as she held her breath with sealed lips. Rick blinks multiple times, making sure he wasn't hallucinating and is brought back to reality, leading everyone quickly inside the building.
"Daryl, you cover the back!" Shane orders as he leads everyone inside alongside Rick.
The inside is white interior walls allowing more light into the space. There are glass windows for you to see every angle of the outside but showcases nothing for the moon begins to peak. The ceiling is high for tall heights and lighting dim enough to see your way around.
"Hello?" Rick calls out, waiting for someone to make an appearance, "Hello?" he calls out again.
Daryl walks behind Riley, watching her back, "Keep your guard up." he warns, and she nods.
"Hello?" Rick calls out once more.
In response a gun clicks making everyone tense at the sudden noise and scan their surroundings. Riley is the first to lay eyes on a man in a grey T-shirt holding a shot gun in hands. Not very muscular, but not scrawny just an average middle-aged man.
"Anybody infected?" the man spoke, the light hovering over gave him a spotlight effect.
Rick turns to the voice, "One in our group was." he states immediately, keeping his gaze locked on the stranger, "He didn't make it,"
"Why are you here?" What do you want?" the man asks, holding his gun more tightly.
"A chance."
The man let's out a dry laugh, "That's asking an awful lot these days."
Riley takes a step forward, "We know, but we're begging," she pleads, lowering her gun to show vulnerability, "We have children," she gestures to the kids who held tightly onto their mothers legs.
Everyone stays silent as they wait for the man to give an answer, he scans the group once more before coming to a conclusion. "You will all submit to a blood test. That's the price of admission."
"We can do that." Rick answers, not wasting a second to ask the people if they agree.
"You got stuff to bring in you do it now. Once this door closes, it stays closed."
All the men went outside to retrieve the groups belongings. When they came back in, Daryl is the one to hand Riley her bags. She grabs the bags and puts the straps through her arms then carries the duffle bag in her hand.
Once the man saw everyone was done he swipes a card across a pad, "Vi seal the main entrance. Kill the power up here."
Rick walks up to hold his hand out and introduces himself, "Rick Grimes."
