**COLBY'S POV**
"Hey!" Bryn said as she walked down the hall with extra bounce in her step until she was walking right beside me. "I have something to tell you, I know you're not going to like it but-"

"Are you going to get to the point?" I cut her off and her face fell before she quickly found her usual pep and proceeded.

"Well, Janine was seen with her ex from Colorado, Dean, yesterday and they looked like they had sparked old flames according to Madeline who heard it from Harley who lives across the street from Dean." She said.

"Listen to yourself, it's all gossip." I brushed it off, but gossip has a small ounce of truth to it and the idea of Janine with Dean did anger me.

"I know you had something with her, but I'm here now and I forgive you, but we can't be together with her pulling you aside when it's convenient for her. You can do better than that, with me. I love you Colby." Bryn said, her doe eyes widening.

"Bryn, we had a great run and it was all innocent and I did love you, at one point, but you left with no promise of return and I got over you. I moved on and you need to move on too."

"You moved on to a worthless whore? Janine will only ruin you, she doesn't want your heart she only wants what's between your legs and don't think you're different from all the other men she's screwed. She's the biggest slut in this school, she can't love you like I do." Bryn said, tears streaming down her cheek and malice behind her words.

The school bell went off, signaling the start of the school day. Saved by the bell, I quickly walked towards homeroom. I see Janine standing at her locker, fumbling with the lock while juggling her bag and an art portfolio.

I'm greeted by the temptation of walking up to her and almost find myself doing just that. Almost. Before I can push my feet in her direction, Dean walks up to her and catches the portfolio that just so happens to be falling out of her arms. I swear he looks me dead in the eyes and smirks before flashing a huge smile in Janine's direction and helping her with her locker.

The couple walks right past me and into the homeroom, which may I mention Dean isn't even in.

"Shelby is it?" Dean asks on his way out of the classroom. I peer into the doorway to see Janine obliviously writing in her planner.

"Colby." I seethed and walked into the classroom, making sure to bump my shoulder into his as I do.

Bryn was right, Janine is not good for me.

**JANINE'S POV**
I struggled to hold onto my portfolio and open my locker at the same time. I lost grip of my portfolio and I cringed, waiting for the papers to come flying out and onto the ground.

"Be careful." Dean came up behind me holding my portfolio and a Manila folder I recognized from yesterday.

We planned to meet up on Sunday, yesterday, to work on our art/photography project. Luckily, we got the photos done, which are in the folder, and I was nearly done with the watercolor portrait. Nothing more than classwork, like I promised myself.

Dean held onto my portfolio while I rushed to pack. We walked wordlessly to my homeroom where Dean saw me to my seat, handed me my portfolio and walked out.

Moments later, a stiff Colby walked in, jaw tense and all, taking the seat behind me.

"Hey, I hope you had a nice weekend." I smiled, hoping to break the tension.

"I know you did, how comfortable must if have been to sleep in Dean's bed?" Colby snapped. He crossed his arms over his chest and relaxed into the seat, his eyes held no warmth as they stared straight through me.
