Y/n POV

~Seven Months Later~

I dragged my suitcase into the living room and let go of it.
"Guys it's only going to be four days, it's not forever" I laughed as the gang looked at me sadly.
"We're gonna miss you" Ponyboy whined, "you'll be ok kid" I said and gave him a hug.

Just like Jack and I had roughly planned months ago, I'm going back to New York to visit him. Soda's coming with me too, of course.

"You better behave up there" Darry said, "don't be like Dallas and spend those four days in jail".
Dally looked offended and I laughed "I won't, don't worry" "rude" Dally said and I laughed walking over to him.
"Bye to you too" I said and gave him a hug, "try not to do anything stupid or illegal while I'm gone?" "I'll try, maybe" he said hugging back.

"Come here kiddo" Steve said making me look up from the hug and walk over to him "not a kid dumbass" I reminded him, because I hated it when he called me that. He laughed at me and we hugged "just because you're adults now doesn't mean you can do anything" he said and I laughed "we won't, we're not stupid".

Soda and I's birthday was a couple months ago, making us eighteen now!

"Bye y/n" Johnny said and I hugged him, "I'll be back soon, don't worry" I told him and he nodded.
"Bye Two-butt" I said turning to him now.
"Kid" was all he said in return and I glared at him. Steve had taught him that I hated that, of course.

We both just ended up laughing at each other and hugging, while saying goodbye. I walked back over to my suitcase, which was by the door, and met Soda there.
"Bye everyone!" I yelled one last time before walking out the door. We walked to our car and put our bags inside, yes we have a car now too!

We drove off to the train station and talked the entire drive there, "man, they were acting like we were leaving forever" Soda said laughing and I nodded.
"Exactly! We're coming back this time you know!" I said, "they have to have like separation anxiety or something" Soda added on continuing to laugh and I shrugged, "or maybe they just remembered what happened last time". Soda nodded sadly, he doesn't like talking about what happened, so I ended the conversation there.

We got to the train station a few minutes later and boarded the train, and yes we actually paid this time and boarded like normal passengers.
The train actually has a route straight to New York so we're taking it the entire way there instead of also a bus, making the trip shorter this way.

The train ride was pretty boring, I stared out the window most of the time, and I eventually got really annoyed by the vibration the train was making and Soda found that hilarious. But, Soda and I were mostly talking during the trip up there, laughing a lot, but mostly talking.

"You're such an asshole!" "who gets mad at a train vibration?" He burst out laughing and I gripped his hand tighter, showing that I still loved him even though I was agitated. He stopped laughing after a minute and leaned over and kissed my cheek, making me smile as I stared out the window once again.

Once it became night, I was tired of sitting and doing nothing, so I glared at Soda, in a tired way more so than an angry way.
"Tired?" He asked sarcastically and I snorted in response making him laugh.
"Yeah" I admitted and he motioned his head towards the seats "then rest your head down and sleep" "I don't want to sleep in a chair" I complained.

He rolled his eyes at my complaints "you didn't have a problem seven months ago on that bus" he shot at me and I glared at him again, angrily this time.
"Fine" I said and turned to face the other way and rested my head to the seat.
"Baby I was just kidding-" Soda said quickly and lightly tugged at my shoulder trying to turn me around. I found that so cute. I turned myself around and kissed him. He smiled and I laid my head down on his shoulder and closed my eyes.
I felt him lay his head back onto the seat to get some rest too, and we both fell asleep.

I opened my eyes the next morning and squinted from the sunlight as I lifted up my head to look around. My neck ached so I lifted my arm up to rub it and looked next to me, Soda was still sleeping. I chuckled quietly and looked at the time, eight o'clock, we still had three hours left which wasn't too bad.

I let Soda continue to sleep, knowing how difficult it can be to sleep on a train. He woke up about a half an hour later and happy, per usual. It made me laugh, because the second he woke up and looked at me, he just smiled.
"Good morning sleepyhead" "good morning" "We have like two and a half hours left" "great!" He said happily then kissing my cheek, making me giggle.

"Why are you so happy? I'm still grumpy and I woke up thirty minutes ago!" "I don't know! I'm just in a good mood" he said still smiling, making me shake my head. Although, he had made me start to smile now too. He grabbed my hand and rubbed it with his thumb as we continued the rest of the train ride.

Once we got there, two and a half hours later, we grabbed our backpacks and headed off of the bus. I looked around for a minute and then I spotted him.

Jack.

I ran to him with a huge smile on my face and gave him a hug,

"I'm back!".
