Heroes Know No Rest

"Thank you gas leak", Ned said as he kicked up his feet, leaned back in his chair, & rested his eyes.

But his friends looked at him weirdly as he said so.

"I mean, it's awful that school is closed for the rest of the week, boo", Ned said with sarcastic enthusiasm. "Can you blame me, we got a half a week off of school, no responsibilities, no homework, & we don't have to wake up super early for the rest of the week . . .".

"As much as I like school, I have to agree with Ned", Michelle interrupted Ned's speech about the glory of no school.

"I don't know about no responsibilities, I mean, I still have to get up early every morning", Peter said. He parked the car in the mall parking lot.

"What for", Michelle asked?

"I have a serious project to help my dad & uncle with, then I go to the gym in my free time", Peter said, he put the keys in his pocket, he then pulled out his phone to avoid the socially awkward look he got from Michelle in the passenger seat.

"Peter has abs", Ned quickly said. Peter turned around & looked at Ned with wide eyes, but Ned had a small smirk on his face.

"When did you start working out", Michelle asked? She looked over at Peter, she quickly looked Peter up & down, but Peter wore so much clothing, that it was hard to determine if he was muscular or not.

"Just a few months ago", Peter said. He added on, "I've been doing the Captain America workout routine, it's very difficult".

"Okay", Michelle said questionably as she looked back at Ned. "So what are we doing here, loser, you said we were going somewhere fun".

"MJ, we're at the mall, this is one of the most fun places for teenagers to waste away their off time", Ned said as he pointed at the mall in front of them. "We can waste our money on clothes we will wear once before they get ruined, eat overpriced food from a cart, & enjoy the crowded stores as we try to shop. This is every teenager's happy place".

"Sounds like hell", Michelle said.

"Alright, ladies, are we going to sit here in the car all day, or are we going to do something fun", Peter asked? Without waiting for his friends to reply, he pushed open the door, took a step out, & started walking to the mall entrance.

His friends quickly got out of the car & started following him. So they walked through to the mall.

"Hey", Michelle said as they walked into the mall & passed a Dick's Sporting Good Store. "Has anyone else noticed that Spider-man isn't normally seen until almost 3 o'clock in the afternoon".

"That's weird, what do you think that means'', Ned asked? He nearly choked on the air he was breathing when Michelle said that.

"Do you think he could be a student", Peter asked? "It makes sense, he never really is seen during normal school hours. Maybe we should change his name to Spider-Preteen".

They all laughed loudly at Peter's joke, which Peter told to get Michelle off the track.

And it worked, the joke threw Michelle through a loop & everytime Michelle brought Spider-man up, Peter would mock or tease the wall-crawler, & everytime he does, Michelle would start to believe that maybe she was wrong, maybe Peter wasn't actually Spider-man, but then Peter would come up with some lame excuse for why he can't hang out & then Spider-man will be spotted five minutes later.

And Peter almost did that again, he wanted to go out as Spider-man, but it's been so long since Peter has hung out with Ned & Michelle, he also had a huge crush on Michelle at this point & he felt bad saying 'no' to hanging out with her & Ned.
