today was your frien gina's birthday, so she had bought some pie at the grocery store to celebrate it with you and your friends. well, obviously her friends, but since the two of you were basically in the same friend group, they were your friends as well.

among your friends was also ruel, your boyfriend of just a few weeks. you hadn't known each other that well for a long time, but that didn't matter. you liked each other because of who you were, and because you had been friends at first, the relationship was nice.

obviously the entire friend group was a little involved in your relationship, because if it hadn't been for your friends, you and ruel hadn't met each other and hadn't got to know each other in the way you did.

you walked towards gina, and gave her a quick hug. "hey, happy birthday!" you told her.

"ahhh, thank you, girl! now i'm finally the same age as you," she said and you joined her laughter. you always ahd so much fun with your friends, literally with all of them.

after eating some of the pie, you decided to paint the nails of some of your friends. first of all your own, obviously, but also the ones of ruel and one of your closest friends stephen. you had brought your green nail polish with you, so all of you would have matching nails.

while painting stephen's nails, gina called another girl to ask if she wanted to come to all of you to get some pie as well. this girl was called faye, and only a few years ago, she was your best friend.

you and faye knew each other since seventh grade. ever since you had been very close friends, and you had even had a small friend group with her and some other friends. the thing with them was that they kind of shut you out not even a year ago. obviously this wasn't only them, it also cam efrom your side, but they kept secrets from you and it was more and more often that they didn't include you to things. almost a year ago, you were still pretty close to them, but then somehow the friendship just sort of ended. at least, the friendship wasn't as close anymore as it used to be.

in no time faye and her other friends sabrina and natalie, who you used to be in a group with, came into the room where you and your current friends were sitting.

"hey guys!" they greeted all of you, and you felt like they were such different people from when you were friends with them. you just continued painting the boys' nails while kind of ignoring them, only giving them a quick 'hi'.

a little into them talking to gina, you listened to what they were talking about. "yeah, that was a weird night. the afternoon was nice, but the night was just a little scanty," faye told sabrina.

"huh, why was it scanty? it was just a fun evening," sabrina exclaimed.

"yes, the afternoon was, but the evening wasn't. what happened afterwards? huh, do you remember?" faye grinned.

"oh, that! i didn't remember that was then," sabrina laughed.

"yes it was! oh my god, that evening was kind of horrible," faye agreed.

the talk between them made you feel a little off. you still weren't fully used to them not sharing everything, and you hated that they kept such things from you. why didn't they just say what they were talking about?

they continued laughing with each other and you just tried to shut them out of your mind. you didn't want to hear about those things. it was a very weird feeling that if things had gone a little different not even one year ago, you had been in that position and you had been involved in the conversation.

a short while later, sabrina, faye and natalie had finished their pieces of pie and decided to leave the room to do some other things.

"bye, guys! have a nice day and we'll see you later. and thanks for the pie, gina," they said before exiting and walking away.
