Let’s let the stars watch, let them stare

Let the wind eavesdrop, I don’t care

For all that we’ve got, don’t let go

Just hold me

Life was getting a little easier. The pains that I’d been having for the past two weeks were lessening and I’d gone on a couple dates with Trevor despite how the first one ended. All in all, things were looking up. I was even hanging out with the group a lot more; a lot of the awkward tension between us had dissipated.

“Hey darling, are you ready to go?” Mom called from down stairs. It was Friday morning and I had been feeling really great, like better than usual. It was weird; it didn’t feel like just a reprise from the feeling, it felt like I was actually healthier. Because of how great I felt, I decided to look extra cute today, more than my usual just getting by.

When I came downstairs the boys and my mom were waiting for me. Seth was still driving me and Eli to school but I was no longer sitting in the front seat. That was just too awkward. Seth opened the door for me, “You look nice today Har,” He was back to using my old nickname.

“Oh so I look like crap all the other days?” He chuckled at my joke while he opened the door for me. Once he and Eli were in, we were on our way to school. The car was pretty silent; a couple of jokes here and there, and talk about werewolf studies, the usual. But for some reason, I was filled with nervous energy; like that I knew something good was going to happen. We made it to school and Emma and the rest of the group were waiting for us outside. I said bye to Eli and then followed my friends into the building.

“So what are we doing tonight?” Emma dropped back to walk beside me, Beth on my other side. I’d been spending a lot of girl time with the both of them lately.

“I don’t know, I just want to do something low key. Nothing too big. If it wasn’t a school day, I would totally be up to drinking and having a jam fest in the forest but I know how late those go.” We laughed. It was very common for us to not get back home till 4 o’clock in the morning.

“How about we go see that new superhero movie and then go to dinner at the diner? That’s low-key right? I mean it is still Friday night. I want to do something.” Beth spoke up.

“Oooh, that’s a great idea Beth. And I’ve been wanting to see that movie too.”

“Cool then we’re all set up? I’ll go tell the boys.” Beth smiled then skipped ahead to where the boys were standing. Sam wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her forehead. It was crazy how his face lit up whenever she was around. I really envied it, especially now that I knew what it felt like to be without your mate. I liked it better when I was jealous about something I had no idea about.
