*cassie and jacobs 14th birthday*

"C'mon!" Jake poked his head around Cassies bedroom door, "just go, I'll come down when I'm ready..." she shook her head and waved him off, "suit yourself then" he shrugged his shoulders and left. Cassie had been dreading this day for so long, she just didn't want it to come, she hated her birthday every year. Their 14th birthday, why's it so special? They're only getting a year older...

"Happy birthday honey" Katy smiled and gave her son a hug, Pete was next in line to give his son a hug. "Thanks" Jacob smiled at his parents then smiled at jay who was stood nearby, "happy birthday" jay smiled. Jake laughed, "thanks Ryan" he nodded, none of them had a clue who jay was apart from Cassie who had kept her mouth closed for days now. Speaking of Cassie, jay couldn't see her anywhere, "do we have to wait till after school to open them...?" Jake sighed and referred to his presents. Pete laughed, "yes so be patient" he smiled and scruffed up his sons curly hair.

"Where's your sister?" Katy sighed and folded her arms, Jake shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, she said she wasn't ready so I left her" he tried to take a peak at his presents. Pete sighed, "well she's gonna make us late, Ryan could you go find her please?" He smiled at jay. Jay nodded, "of course" he smiled then ran upstairs. He walked along the hallway and towards cassies room where he could hear quiet music playing, he stopped at her door and knocked gently before she gave him the okay to come in.

"Hey cass, why aren't you downstairs?" He leant against the doorframe, Cassie finished up with packing her school bag, "didn't feel like it, is it time to go?" She smiled at him. Jay smiled, "yeah it is, happy birthday by the way" he smiled. Cassie laughed, "thanks" she nodded and got off her bed before putting her backpack over her shoulders. Jay noticed that Jacob was in school uniform but Cassie was in plain clothes, "how comes you're not in uniform like Jake is?" He tilted his head as she pulled out her skateboard from her inside of her closet, Cassie sighed and clutched it under her arm, "he goes to a private school, I don't so comfy clothes it is" she smiled weakly. Jay raised his eyebrows but nodded sadly, god, the favouritism just kept coming. She was half correct, comfy clothes it was, but it made her feel unworthy of education since she wasn't given as many opportunities like her brother was. Her outfit matched her style and she liked it so she didn't really complain too much.

"Don't be late home" Katy looked at Cassie as Jake closed the car door, her mother dropped Jake off at school every day so Cassie had to skateboard or walk to her school, not that she minded much, but it still wasn't nice knowing Jak...

"Don't be late home" Katy looked at Cassie as Jake closed the car door, her mother dropped Jake off at school every day so Cassie had to skateboard or walk to her school, not that she minded much, but it still wasn't nice knowing Jake was being prioritised. Cassie sighed, "yes mom, I know..." she shook her head and put her skateboard on the floor. Jay smiling at her from the door, he always stayed home which meant he was alone when the kids weren't with him, he used that as his opportunities to search the house in hopes to close the case.

Cassie got on her skateboard and waved at jay as she started her route to school, jay waved back before she looked at where she was going. He found it pretty cool that she could skateboard, he hadn't seen her on it much but he had seen her on the backyard doing random stuff, Jake could use a skateboard too but he didn't go on it as much since he had a gaming PC instead. They family and jay got on with their daily tasks before they end of the school day.

Cassie hopped off her skateboard and opened the front door to her house, it was 3:15pm so only Jake and jay were home.  She smiled and waved at jay but just nodded at Jake, "why're you so moody?" Jacob scoffed.  Cassie pulled a face, "I'm not..." she shook her head and sat down on the couch.  Jay smiled since he knew she wasn't in a mood, she was just tired of living in this house.  The trio were watching TV when Jake nudged her leg, "wanna open them?" He pointed to the presents.  Cassie shook her head, "dad'll kill us so no. They're probably not mine anyways" she laughed a little but it was true, it probably all belonged to Jake.  Jay looked at her in confusion, no presents on her birthday? What on earth?

Jacob scoffed, "stop being so jealous..." he slapped her arm forcefully.  Cassie kicked his leg, "I'm not, I'm only telling the truth" she shrugged her shoulders and turned her attention back to the TV.  Jay didn't bother with the two as they hit each other since they were siblings and it's normal, but if either of them hurt the other then he would step in.  He had been there for a few days now and he still hadn't found anything out about the case he was working, he could only hope something would come up soon so he could get Cassie out of this toxic place.
