The car came to a sudden halt as it pulled into a garage, "c'mon, get out" the brown haired man that had drove them here opened the car door. Cassie looked at him in fear and she was pretty sure he noticed how scared she was but he didn't say anything, instead he just helped her down from the step and guided her over to the stairs where she was handed over to an older woman who didn't wear a smile at all.
She realised that she was in a police station when the older lady left her alone in a room with a mirror on the wall, well, glass more like. She was in an interrogation room but she hadn't done a crime, she had no clue why she was there. The hand cuffs were still on her wrists and they were pretty tight, painful too. God her parents would be so mad, or would they even care? Who knows...All she could focus on was calming her nerves before someone came in to shout at her.
After what felt like eternity the same two officers who arrested her, which she figured out were detectives from her cure situation, walked into the room. She looked at them in fear and sat still, "I'm detective upton and this is my partner detective Halstead, we just wanna talk okay?" the woman pulled the chair out and sat down as her partner done the same thing, Cassie looked at them and nodded hesitantly.
"What's you're name?" The man looked at her, both of them had their arms rested on the table. "Cassie evans..." she spoke innocently, since that's what she was, innocent. The two partners looked at each other with slight confusion, it was rare to have an offender giving them their first name never mind their last name too. "Okay Cassie, how old are you?" He continued to interrogate her. Cassie gulped, "13..." she spoke quietly. The two partners shot their heads to each other again, shock plastered all over their faces, "d-did you just say 13?" The woman stuttered, her voice was a little softer this time. Cassie looked at them in dread and nodded slowly. "Could you give us a second? We'll be right back" the male detective stood up. Cassie looked at them and nodded as they walked out of the room.
It felt like eternity again before the pair re-entered, only now they seemed kinder and more humane. "How about we take off the handcuffs?" Detective upton smiled at her. Cassie smiled weakly and nodded before turned her back to the woman and letting her un-do the shackles, she felt the relief surge over her when she oils finally rubbed her wrists after what felt like hours. She turned back to the pair as the woman sat next to her partner again, everyone seemed a bit more relaxed.
"We thought you were about 17..." detective Halstead smiled nervously at her, Cassie laughed a little and looked down, "yeah I get that a lot..." she nodded. The two partners smiled weakly at each other, they felt bad for being rough with her since she was a kid, although she didn't look like one. Cassie looked back up to them since there was a moment of silence, "could you tell us where the bag of powder came from?" The woman smiled. Cassie shrugged her shoulders, "I wish I could detectives, but I've never seen it before..." she told them again. Detective Halstead tilted his head, "you don't have to call us detective, I'm jay and she's Hailey" he smiled. Cassie smiled and nodded, both detectives could still see her fear.
"So you don't know where the bag came from?" Jay smiled sadly at her. Cassie shook her head but dropped her face in realisation when she remembered the group of boys she had an interaction with earlier, "is everything okay?" Hailey sat up straighter. Cassie looked at them both, "I uh, I was in detention after school and when I left I had a little situation with a group of boys who were stood by the school sign..." she spoke quietly. Jay nodded, "can you remember what happened" he smiled at hailey then at Cassie. She nodded weakly, "I walked past them but one of the boys shouted at me, said I dropped something. He held out a ball of paper and I didn't know what to do, so I walked up to him and took it from his hands, the rest were stood in a circle around me, but I got away..." she looked down.
