How To Get Banned From A Library

•Burn A Book•

She watched the flames run up the spine and swallow the words written on the white pages with its orange glow. The action left behind charred remnants, Lilia letting the heat radiate in front of her as the chilly wind blew around her.

The coat she was wearing was more of a jacket, thin as ever and barely holding in body heat on this colder than it should be fall day.

But she tried not to pay much attention to it, doing what she could to enjoy what was taking place in front of her. Flicking off her lighter with her nearly frozen fingers -which probably should have been covered with gloves on a day like this- and placing it in her bag currently taking residence on the ground, Lilia dropped the book down a safe distance away from it, sparks flying around and lightly igniting a few flames on the dry grass.

Lilia quickly fixed the issue though, stomping at the fire with her boots. This action only left a bit of smoke, some ash, and another destroyed book she would be responsible for.

The smile that crept onto Lilia's face was priceless. Some would find it insane; her means of entertainment. Some would even curse the ground she walked on for doing such a horrible thing. Not to mention those hilarious fangirls who would most definitely scream at her if they ever knew.

And then there were those like my mother, she thought as she held the coat closer to her body, her halfheartedly cursing the decision to pass on wearing a scarf this morning as the air made it's way to a part of her neck, the cool metal of one of her necklaces leaving a chilled mark there. But still, her mind stayed on her mom for a second. The ones who will look at me disappointed and then pay for the damages.

But it stayed there for a second too long. Lilia didn't want to think about that right now, it only brought up the thought of her family, what it was. What it could have been if things were different.

If she were different.

So she only shrugged her shoulders, reaching down to pick up the book again, and shortly after, her bag.

This morning, the story had been the absolute definition of a book lover's dream. The plot was good as far as she could tell, and the characters amazed her as she had read. The ending was a bit rough though, the sudden death of her favorite person enraging her.

But it doesn't matter much now. Now that those very pages with the soul smashing ending were most likely blackened at the edges by the previous fire that just took place that is.

In fact, the once dull blue paper back now left black residue on her cold hands it was so burnt, the image on the cover being barely there after her action.

Then, she set out, walking in the direction of the local library. Her bag hanging loosely on her shoulder and Lilia feeling the slightest hint of warmth from the book in her palm as she went.
