How To Get Banned From A Library
•Throw A Book In With The Laundry•
Cody was a pretty funny guy, Lilia had decided. He was the type to sweat nervously because he was doing something bad, and fidget with his hands because he thought Lilia and him were going to get caught after stealing a book from the library that she just taped up.
Even though Lilia assured him this wasn't her first time doing something so reckless, it didn't seem to calm him.
Lilia's mom still stood at the front of the library, talking with Ms. Anderson and signing a check that would no doubt get cashed later today. "Hold on a second." She heard her mother say to the still smiling librarian, before attention was on Lilia herself. "Where do you think you're going?"
Her mom would surely be disappointed if Lilia told her the real thing she was going to do. So instead, Lilia quickly came up with an excuse. And it wasn't the first time, she's learned to be a quick thinker during these situations. "Um, me and Cody are gonna hang out." She replied, grabbing at the boy's arm, causing Cody to lightly shriek and pull away hurriedly.
In the rush, Lilia almost lost the book that was currently jabbed against her skin, hidden under her shirt because Cody had whined when she asked the put it in his backpack. And as far as putting it in her purse, Lilia knew that would be the first place her mom would look. "He doesn't look like he wants to hang out." Lilia's mother pointed out.
"Oh, that." Lilia waved her hand, a soft pfft sound leaving her mouth. "He's just shy. You know guys, always acting strange around girls they have a crush on." Her words were ever so confident, Lilia smiling in a joking manner as she glanced Cody's way.
But Cody had some plans of his own. "Yeah, well," He started, crossing his arms. Though, a blush was forming on his cheeks and running down to his neck. "i'm guessing you don't know that information from personal experience, Lilia."
Lilia stuck her tongue out in a childish manner once Cody's words were out of his mouth. All he did was do so right back so Lilia quit and instead told her mom, "We're just gonna go site seeing. Every town has its wonders."
"Give me the bag, Lilia." As predicted, her mom asked to look inside. Lilia handed it over, watching as confusion fill her mother's face.
Lilia had the tiniest of smiles on her face that she did her best to cover up. "Find anything special?"
She could tell her mom was a bit peeved by the lack of findings. "Okay, fine," Lilia's gritted out. "Just remember not to stay out too late." Lilia nodded, a devious smile coming to the teen girl's face as Cody and her left the library moments later.
"I can not believe you got away with that." Cody sounded completely shocked by how easy it was for Lilia to steal a book from the library and not get caught.
Lilia smirked, throwing the taped up book at him. "Not like they would want it in this condition anyway." Lilia proceeded to put her hair into a high messy bun, her red and black strands of hair placed on top of her head and exposing her neck.
"I'm gonna get in so much trouble." Cody whined. "Okay, you got the book, Lilia. Now, leave me alone. I want nothing more to do with you."
"But we're supposed to go site seeing, showing me the wonders of the town and all that crap," Lilia whined.
Cody groaned, rubbing the back of his neck. "I thought that was just a lie to get your mom to let you be."
"It was," She admitted. "Doesn't mean I don't want to do it now."
"Fine," Cody gave in. "But after that, walk away and never speak to me again. Please."
Lilia didn't do some sarcastic joke or tease him in some way. She instead nodded. "Whatever you say, Cody."
"Good. Now, what do you want to see first?" He asked. Looking at the book in Cody's hand gave her an idea. One that she knew Cody wouldn't want to take part in, but an idea none the less.
"Cody," Lilia began. "Where's the nearest laundry mat?"
He gave her a look. "That's not exactly site seeing material, Lilia. Why there?"
"You'll see."

Question: Most interesting dystopian book?
My answer: In my opinion, 'Among The Hidden' by Margaret Peterson Haddix and the other six books in the series. It's a very interesting plot and was one of the first dystopians i've ever read.
