How To Get Banned From A Library
•Wrap A Book In Tape•
Lilia allowed Cody to lead her to the part of the library she wanted to go to, considering he knew more about this place than she did. And she could tell that he was only tagging along to keep her out of trouble. But still, Lilia felt somewhat comforted by such an action, knowing that for once in the past few years, she was finally entertaining herself with the company of another person instead of just her thoughts and a destroyed book.
Even a loner like Lilia, someone who hated the effects of being around another someone, knew that eventually being alone sucked.
"So," Lilia began, nudging him, causing the backpack on his shoulder to sag. "Got any good recommendations?"
"For a good read or how to destroy one?" Cody asked, a hint of anger in his voice as he lifted the pack a little higher onto hi.
Pretending to ponder over his awful question, Lilia tapped a finger on her chin, pulling her sagging bag higher onto her shoulder before it could fall off. "Both I guess. Normally, I read the book then wreck it so..." Lilia trailed off, hoping he got the picture. Which, of course, Cody did, what with his attitude and all.
"How about instead of killing something beautiful, don't hurt a book this time? Just check it out, be a normal person, Lilia." He suggested.
Tilting her head to the side, she said, "Maybe you're right."
"Really?" Cody questioned, pure shock written all over his face. But he quickly covered it up so Lilia wouldn't think anything too big of it. "I mean, of course I am. It is the proper thing to do with a book after all."
Lilia only burst out laughing though, the slightest of snorts mixed in there, a nearby reader letting out a loud shh sound as she did. "Whoa, hold up. I didn't mean about that, Cody." He gave her a confused look, appearing absolutely exhausted with this entire endeavor already. "You don't want me to hurt a book, but you said nothing about a series of them."
"Lilia, seriously. Tell me you're joking." Cody pleaded, looking around them nervously, fearing that their conversation was being heard. "I'm seeing you do this, as a result, i'm involved. It might be a hobby for you, but i'm not someone that thrives on getting in trouble, which I will be if I let you go through with this."
"You're kinda funny." Was all Lilia said, now holding her dull gray sack of a bag with both hands and digging through it, her tongue jammed between her teeth and sticking out as she handled the difficult task. Not finding the object among many others easily, Lilia gave up for a second, blowing the hair that had flopped down onto her face out of her eyes. "You don't even know what i'm gonna do yet, you big cry baby. It could be harmless for all you know. But if it means so much to you, I won't grab a whole book series. Looks like i'm back to square one."
Cody bit his lip and placed his head in his hands, running them down it in an aggravated gesture. "And what would that be?"
"Getting one book obviously." And it was then that Lilia found the item, taking it from the bag and holding it up with a smirk. "Perfect! Now, looks like i'll be finding the book on my own. So you hold the means of destruction until I grab one."
Then, Lilia handed Cody the roll of duct tape.
