How To Be Banned From A Library

•Make Chains From A Book's Pages•

It was simple, Lilia knew that. Looping the pieces of paper over and under each other, gluing the ends together -or in this case duct taping the ends-, and creating a chain of paper rings was kindergarten simple. Heck, it was pre-school simple.

Yet, Lilia thought this was one of the most creative book wrecks she's ever attempted. But there was also something in the back of her head that was eating away at her. Wrecking this book felt empty suddenly, her left to sit down in the grass outside of some random person's home, hoping they weren't going to call the cops or something.

She knew if Cody was here right now, he'd be rolling his eyes at Lilia and maybe even have his arms crossed, a glare and lopsided frown marking his features. He most definitely wouldn't approve of her behavior, not like that would stop her though.

Lilia had her reasons for doing what she did; had her reasons for how she dressed, reasons for how she talked, how she behaved toward her parents.

Oh, boy! Lilia thought, creating another chain. If only dear ole dad could see me now.

Though the thought made a small smile appear on her face, with it also came regret, guilt, sadness. Thinking about her father at any moment caused these feelings to show up, Lilia thinking about all she'd supposedly done wrong in her life that caused regret to swell up in him for ever having such a, how he put it, disappointing child.

Her mother on the other hand preferred to leave Lilia to herself, the woman never really wanting a child anyway. And given how she worked for some top notch, high and mighty company that had money practically flowing out of it's doors and she made a huge sum from them, Lilia's mom was able to fix everything Lilia did wrong. Well, almost everything.

"Hey," Lilia heard in front of her, lifting her head to be faced with a little redhead girl that had pigtails. Freckles were splattered over her arms and cheeks, as well as her neck. But Lilia had to admit, it made her look pretty adorable. "What're you doing?"

Lilia looked down, torn pages of the book that was currently in her bag scattered across the ground before her. "Uh," Lilia managed to get out, trying to think of the best explanation of how to explain this to her without infecting this young girl's mind. It wasn't like Lilia didn't know what she did was wrong after all, didn't mean she would stop either. "Making art, kid. What about you?"

"Walking my dog," She answered, head gesturing to the golden retriever beside her. It was the first time Lilia had somehow noticed the animal, its tongue hanging from its mouth and dropping slobber onto the grass.

Lilia nodded, letting the girl know that she understood. "Yeah, well, get a move on alright. I'm working here."

"You know that this is Robert Pennings house, right? He'll call his sheriff daddy if he finds you here." She told me.

Crap.

"No, I didn't. I'm kinda new around here." She explained, silently adding in her head at the end that she wouldn't be here for much longer either. Lilia stood up, wiping off her jeans with her hands. "I guess i'll be leaving then. Thanks for the heads up, kid."

"Maylee."

"Huh?" Lilia asked, confused for a moment. "Oh, that's your name, isn't it?"

The girl nodded. "Who are you?"

"Uh, you can call me Lilia." She answered, placing her bag on her shoulder trying to walk away in peace. Trying is the key word here.

"So," The little girl started, following after Lilia. "This 'art' you were making earlier, can I help?"

Lilia almost snorted, amused by the fact that anyone would actually want to help her with anything. Then, seeing that the girl was dead serious, she hid her almost laughter, shrugged, and said, "Um, sure. Why not?"
