Chapter 18 Clan

Rosaline's POV

As often, I'm sitting at my desk, just examining reports from some of my men. And I can say they performed well, they were able to loot a warehouse and they brought us many useful goods for us to use. We now have more weapons, more food and that's not only the best parts since we also have more cars.

I smirk at myself as I keep reading other good reports bringing good news until one catch my eye and I frown. Michael and Jonas went up north to understand what happened to Aida my best element and they didn't come back either something feels very wrong about that and I can't put my finger on it. It's been five days since they've left, why did they not come back ? Could it be another hidden clan up there ? But that doesn't make sense, why would people want to get lost in the middle of nowhere where there is almost no stuff to steal... Something feels wrong with all of this and I don't like that. I have the control of almost all the city and I hate when I can't comprehend something.

I stand up from my chair and go toward my large windows to look at the weather outside, still snowing, the snow is getting really thick and I can see my breath inside the large room I'm in. Thankfully, this government building we were able to capture a while ago came in handy. We have large rooms to operate our plans and we're really organized now, not like at the beginning. Of course every plan was presented by me before getting approved. I am the leader of this clan, and soon enough, I will be the leader of all this damn town !

Suddenly a knock on my door wakes me up from my thoughts.

"Yes ? Come in."

Lloyd, one of my strongest and loyal men comes inside looking down with a scared face. After a few seconds of silence, I decide to break the ice. "Lloyd what's the matter ? I know this face very well so tell me what's going on now!"

The man shivers in shock at my outburst before replying. "It's about the expedition where our two men didn't come back, I was wondering what would you like to do about it ?"

So he had the information already and yet he didn't tell me. I may be overwhelmed by work but that's not a excuse not to tell me orally that, especially when it concerns Aida, this girl is important and means a lot to me, I want to get her back, I have a feeling she's not dead but I don't know what she's up to and it makes me worry, a feeling that I despise.

"Boss you're alright ?" asks Lloyd as I'm lost again in my thoughts.

"Yes, I'm okay. I think something feels off with all of this, I'm gonna go there myself and I'll bring some men with me our best ones, including you!"

The man gulps and nod. "Yes boss, of course, what's your theory about all of this ? Do you think Aida betrayed us for real ?"

I scratch the back of my head while looking outside. "I don't know, I never thought she could do something like that, I want to believe that it's something else, but what ? I don't have a clue. Prepare five men to go with us, we will leave at dawn and prepare the provisions too."

Lloyd starts to walk back the door before I snap my fingers and he stops in his tracks. I love the power I can have as a leader, it really feels amazing.

"Hmmm yes boss ?"

"Don't take just pistols, also take rifles and ammunition with us okay ?"

"Yes boss, of course, how could I forget that?" He replies with a chuckle that seems fake to me.

He finally leaves the room and close my door as I start pacing around to get a better comprehension of this situation I'm in right now. Aida has always been loyal to me, I can't imagine that she just wanted to leave like that. Maybe she got caught up in a blizzard and she had nowhere to hide and protect herself from the cold ? Could be possible but at the same time two of my men didn't come back either, and the last few days we didn't have any snowstorm in town, the weather should be more or less the same as up there.

I finally decide to leave my room and go downstairs walking through long corridors with guards patrolling near the windows and bowing slightly when I get close to them. A routine, I quickly got used to now and also I love to have the respect I deserve in this place. When everything went downhill, as a former military I knew I didn't want to simply survive, I wanted to lead and get what I want whenever I want. My superiors always told me how amazed they were by both my leadership and my cold blood in tough situations. These qualities brought me to where I am right now, at the top of the biggest clan of this town. Although it's never been easy, men were reluctant at first to obey me, a woman but I made them kneel before my authority. How did I do such a thing ? By showing the example, one day I found out that one of my men was plotting against me, and he handed up with a bullet in his skull. That's how everything works now, this was the kind of justice I gave to those who betray me. Only the stronger can and will survive through this and I'm one of them!

Although we still have enemies outside, another clan strong enough to disrupt our activities. They are numerous and they're situated in the south of the town, we fought for months, the both of us losing many men in the process. I was smart enough to make them believe that I wanted a cease of fire and I took advantage of it in a way they didn't expect at all. I decided to capture their daughter at night when they were the least expecting it. They didn't see that coming at all. I knew Aida was against this plan at first, because she didn't want to imply innocent people like this in our problems but the

I smirk to myself at those memories before I arrive to the destination that I wanted, a door which leads to a room with a guard protecting it. He is almost sleeping while standing up but suddenly his eyes widen as he sees me coming.

"Boss ?! I'm sorry I was just resting my eyes!"

I groan and sigh. "Idiot, you think you're here to just rest ?! This is the most precious thing that we have in this room and you dare to let your guard down ?!"

Stunned by my tone of voice, he starts to stutter as he realises that he can't even come up with words.

"Next time I see you like this, consider yourself as no part of this world, got it ?"

"Yes boss !"

I smirk before asking. "Now open this door."

He searches for the keys in his pocket as he starts to open the door slowly, light slowly filling the room, revealing my best prize to this day by far. The girl crouched in the corner of the room with her head in her legs gasps as she sees me coming inside and I tell her with a mocking tone.

"I hope you're enjoying your stay here Topaz."

The poor girl simply screaming at my own sight in desperation.
