Chapter 14 Vision

I'm so cold right now and exhausted. Darkness is surrounding me. "Where am I right now?"

I realise that I'm now tied to a chair and I can't move. "What does it mean? Should I scream? I don't even know what to do in this situation, fear is the only feeling that I have right now and where is Aida ?

Suddenly a door cracks open slowly, and light fills the room and dazzle me. "So, it's you, huh? It's you who killed so many of our men. How does it feel right now to be in your position?"

It was the voice of another woman, but I didn't recognise it, it was not Aida, that's for sure.

"What are you talking about? Please let me go! I didn't do anything!"

The woman lets a small laugh escape her mouth and she gets closer to me, so I can get a proper look at her face. She had blonde hair, with a lot of scars on her face, she must be in her middle 30s.

"You're quite a fighter you know even though you don't look like much, you could be useful in my clan." I do not even answer, and she cups my chin to inspect my face as she levels with me. I just spit on her face and screams. "Fuck you!" She groans and swipe her face and straight up slaps me hard. The stinging in my cheek hurts like hell. "You want to act tough, huh ? I'm going to have a little fun with you little bitch!"

I then feel a soaked tissue on my mouth as I try to scream but everything becomes dark again.

I wake up suddenly and screams for my life as I hit in the air in the dark. I feel hands reaching my body and I realise that I'm simply in my bed with Aida shushing me. "Shhhh Dana calm down now, I'm here, we're safe!"

My extremely tensed body finally collapses, and I end up in Aida's arms crying on her shoulder. "Shhhh it's okay now breathe in and out slowly, you just had a nightmare."

I try to breathe slowly to be able to talk but it's hard, this situation in that dream was horrible and what if I saw the future.

"But what if it was a vision?" I tell her as a whisper.

I hear her sighing before she kisses my neck. "You said you believed me when I told you that I saw that frost coming, what about now? Could it be something that will happen?"

"I do believe you Dana, you know I do, tell me what happened while you were dreaming?"

"I was in a dark room, I don't know where but I could not move because I was tied to a char, I didn't see you, you were not with me I think. Then a woman came, middle-aged with blonde hair and she wanted me to join her faction I think, I told her that I didn't want any of that and..." I struggle to finish that sentence because I'm scared, I'm frightened to possibly face the situation I was in, it was horrendous. I look in the direction of Aida and see that she seems lost in her thoughts, weirdly.

"Are you okay ?"

Aida smiles at me again and rubs my back. "Yes sorry, your dream is strange but it could possibly be just a casual one you know, don't think about the worse."

Her words are supposed to comfort me but in the back of my mind I'm still doubtful, it felt so real.

Aida kisses my cheek before whispering. "Come on let's get back to sleep, the sun is not up yet we still have time to rest."

"Yes, I guess you're right, we have to be full of energy for tomorrow, we have to defend our home, our only one left."

The next morning we're both eating some usual biscuits with some water for our breakfast. We didn't talk much after we woke up. I was still troubled about the night that I had and Aida even though she reassured me, still seems confused about it.

"So we stay here and fight? You're sure about it?" Aida asks before biting in one biscuit.

"I want to try that yes, this cabin means a lot to me, I know you told me that we could still escape somewhere in the south or west, but what are the odds we find another nice and safe place to live ?"

She sighs and then replies. "They are pretty slim and I know you don't want to rob anyone or do anything you don't like but we're talking about surviving here and I want to be with you, always."

My lips tug upwards at her response, she's so right, we have to survive, even though if it implies doing bad things sometimes, it's either us or the others. Besides I did kill men just yesterday because I wanted to protect us, and I didn't want Aida to die.

"Yes, I still want to fight for here and if we feel like we're not going to win, we will flee, you're with me?"

She stands up from the table and I do so as she kisses my lips tenderly. "Of course I'm with you silly."

I giggle and she finally asks me. "So what is your idea?"

I look at her with bright eyes and tell her. "We're going to set traps, my grandfather has traps in this cabin, mostly for bears, they will not see that coming and oh boy, they will regret coming here."
