Lord/Sensei Garmadon One-Shots ~ Lego Ninjago

• Shelter in the Storm • Kai x Sensei! Garmadon

• Doing a small thingy because I've gotten more requests for more of these two chads! I'll be back on the regularly scheduled requested shenanigans next week! •

Third Person POV

As most scary stories would begin, it was a dark and stormy night.

The ninja were finishing dinner as the storm rolled in. They couldn't help but notice how paranoid Kai seemed to act about it.

Jay snuck up behind him and grabbed him by the shoulders, letting out a shrill scream. Kai jumped, much to everyone's amusement. "What's the matter, Kai? You scared?"

"What? Scared? Ha, no way!" Kai brushed it off with a laugh. "I'm just really tired. I'm going to bed. Good night!" And with that, Kai quickly left the room.

"Does he always act this way when a storm comes?" Garmadon asked, folding his hands together.

"I don't know," Nya replied as she picked up her plate, carrying it to the sink. "He's never really in the same room with me when it happens."

"Should one of us go check on him?"

"Eh, I'm sure he's fine. After all, the storm doesn't seem to look like it'll stick around the whole night."

Nya's reassurance didn't make Garmadon feel any better about the situation.

A crack of thunder rumbled across the sky, almost making it feel as if the building was shaken by the sound alone. It sounded like it was going to be a long night.

Garmadon sat at a desk in the corner of his room, wracking his brain for tomorrow's lesson by the light of a candle.

Nya had predicted it wrong; the storm still raged on outside, lighting beaming through the windows, illuminating the room briefly.

He couldn't help but worry about how Kai was taking it. Maybe Kai was the kind of person who could sleep through a hurricane. But he could also be the kind that wakes up to the slightest rumble of thunder.

Suddenly, a massive boom of thunder roared. Through the noise, he heard a shriek. He stood up, picked up the candlestick, and went to investigate. Since he had a hunch of who it was, he went straight to Kai's room.

Kai was nowhere to be found in the dark room. Garmadon whispered, "Kai? Are you in here?"

He heard a quiet gasp coming from under the bed. Approaching the bed and kneeling down before it, he saw Kai's huddled form laying in fetal position.

Kai couldn't bear to look his mentor in the eyes. Another rolling of thunder shook the walls, making him flinch, pulling his legs closer to his chest.

The silence began to physically hurt, so Kai embarrassedly mumbled, "So, I'm scared of thunder."

Garmadon nodded, "I thought as much." He put the candle on Kai's nightstand and watched as Kai crawled out from under the bed.

Garmadon guided Kai to the bed as he hugged his arms to his chest, rubbing his fingers over his elbows. Kai rested his head against the wall as Garmadon sat down on the bed beside him, placing an arm around the shaking boy's shoulders.

"Are you gonna tell the others that I'm a coward?" Kai grimaced as he leaned into the hug.

"No, I'm not. It's okay to be scared of storms. Lots of people are," Garmadon sighed, gently tangling his fingers in Kai's messy hair.

Lightning flashed through the window, making Kai press his face into Garmadon's chest further.

"You don't have to stay here the whole night, you know," Kai whispered. "I'll be fine."

"I know," Garmadon hummed in reply, wrapping a blanket around him. "That's why I'll stay here."

Before Kai could protest, a loud blast of thunder interrupted his thoughts.

"Okay, it might be better if you stayed."

"That's what I thought."

Word Count: 592 Words.

(Ha ha! It's a storm themed chapter! Get it? Because it's stormy? HA! Hilarious!

But in all seriousness, I'm very scared. Tornadoes are no laughing matter. Maybe they'll keep away for today!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this thingy! I enjoyed writing it because it was a good way to vent and self project my fear of storms by being hugged by my comfort character. If there are any typos and/or dumb stuff, let me know so I can fix it!
