Here's a little thing I decided to write. I don't even know if this should be considered a one-shot.
It was a beautiful night outside. The sky was clear, devoid of any clouds, and the stars twinkled from the heavens, cutting through the inky blackness, forming shapes and constellations. A full moon shone its light down onto the earth below, illuminating the silhouettes of two friends, who sat on the top of a hill, gazing up at the sight. A white streak of light, tinged with blue, broke the stillness of the night as a comet shot through the sky. It caught the eyes of those below, and they look up, mesmerized.
"Did you see that?" Waylon asked, turning to his friend beside him.
"Yeah, I did," Monty replied, smiling. "Are you going to make a wish?"
Waylon chuckled. "Nah. I don't have anything to wish for."
"Really?" Monty asked skeptically.
"Well...there is one thing, but it's kind of stupid." he said slowly.
"Don't say that! Come on, you can tell me, I promise I won't laugh."
Waylon looked down. "If I tell you, you promise you won't laugh?"
Monty nodded. "Of course."
Waylon sighed, and looked up. "I love you, Monty. I always have, and I always will, even though I know you could never love me back. And I want nothing more than to just be with you, to stay with you for the rest of my life."
As he finished speaking, Monty began to chuckle, laughing quietly to himself. Waylon looked away. "You said you wouldn't laugh at me..." he whispered, hurt.
"No, Waylon..." Monty said. He brought his hand under Waylon's chin, silently asking for him to look back. Waylon turned his head, confused. "It's just funny...
"That's my wish too."
