"He wouldn't go back to her," Chloe mumbles, more to herself than to Cody. The very moment she says that, Maddie tilts her head back in laughter and places her hand on Josh's broad shoulder. He looks down at her and smiles a big, white smile. 

"It looks like he already has," Cody replies, moving towards Chloe in an attempt to grab a hold of her hand again. She pulls it away quickly.

"No. No!" she exclaims. "We are not a couple and Josh is not back together with Maddie. I will get Josh back even if it's the last thing I do!"

Chloe turns on her heels and stomps out the back doors of the cafeteria. She sets herself down on a bench outside the library and munches silently, lonely, on her lunch.

Back in the cafeteria, Josh tenses under Maddie's touch, not used to it. After her hand remains on his shoulder for a few seconds, he begins to relax and smiles at her.

Does Maddie like Josh? Yes. Does she love Josh? Absolutely not. He is more than a boy to her, he is a prize. He is the one thing that she has never been able to truly have because of Chloe. Nerdy, ugly Chloe Lukasiak. He had been stolen out from Maddie's grasp too many times and this time, there would be no way she would not come out of it without Josh Hyland as hers. 

She simply would not stand for that to happen. Not this time. She doesn't care what it will take, she will make him hers. Nothing will stand in her way, especially not the prospect of Cosh getting back together. Cosh is dead and gone and now is the perfect time for her to make Mosh happen once again.
