Finally, it was the day of the sports festival. Tensions had been high over the last two weeks. Outside of class, I had spent my free time forcing Nightedge to train with me, and when he was busy, I read up on combat techniques. I knew it was a weak spot for me, and I knew on the last rounds I would have to face the other students, who have more training than me.

"You're going to do amazing," Mount Lady said to me as we walked into the entrance.

Nightedge couldn't make it, but Kamui Woods and Mount Lady brought me. Both of them seemed pretty excited for the festival, but I couldn't help but feel nervous. I had tough competition, and I knew that.

"I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous. They have some strong quirks," I admitted.

"Well, you have a scary one...literally," Kamui chucked to himself.

I couldn't help but smile and roll my eyes at him. Mount Lady did the same, looking back at me.

"Don't get too freaked out, we'll be cheering you on," she smiled to me.

We then went our separate ways, and I went to the locker room to get my gym uniform. I then went to our homeroom where tensions were higher than ever. It was clear that we might still be classmates, but we were definitely against each other right now.

I stuck by Mina and Jiro, not really saying much. I couldn't help but feel my stomach turn at the thought of having to use my quirk on any of these guys. It was soon time for us to go onto the main stage, and as a class, we went out to join the other first years. Midnight was the host this year, and Bakugo was announced to the stage as the first-year rep.

We all stood in anticipation and shock as he walked up onto the stage and spoke, "I just want to say...I'm gonna win."

Instantly that crowd of students freaked out with his words. I couldn't help but snarl a little myself. I can confidently say that I don't feel bad using my quirk on EVERYONE in class 1-A. Midnight then announced that the first round we would be participating in would be an obstacle course, which caused me to curse under my breath a little. This type of challenge wouldn't be one that my quirk would excel at, but I took off running with the others, nonetheless.

The hall was packed through, making it impossible to get through, and it didn't help when Todoroki froze our feet to the ground. One by one, I saw the rest of my classmates starting to break through. I quickly sprayed my acid on the ice, causing it to disintegrate enough for my feel to break through, being careful to not get any on myself.

I then continued to run across the ice, keeping up with the rest of the group. I saw the rest of class 1-A chasing after Todoroki, when these giant robotic monsters appeared. Todoroki quickly took them down with his ice quirk, causing the giant machines to fall in font of us. Dodging the debris, I soon saw that there were more around us.

My quirk isn't going to have much of an effect on these guys. The acid may cause them to deteriorate, but I don't have time to waste like that.

I noticed the other students start taking them down. I knew that as long as I could avoid their attacks, I would be able to make it through this portion. I kept close to my other classmates, seeing how well they were taking them down. All of them were using their quirks so well, and at that point, even Mineta was evading them quicker than me. Finally, I was able to get out of that section, only to make it to the next portion. I looked at the different ledges, knowing that the only thing that was going to help me during this was going to be the training Nightedge had put me through. I knew I had to take my time, but I could see that I was falling very behind compared to Todoroki and Bakugo.

You don't have time to worry about coming in first. This is not the place for me to show off my quirk. I just have to make it to the next round.

Slowly, I made it across the ledges, seeing the field full of landmines ahead of me. Looking to the crowd of students ahead of me, I knew I only had one option. I shot my quirk out from behind, hitting a few of the 1-B students, causing them to stop in their tracks as flinched under the burns of the acid. They then looked at me. Due to the amount of people I had hit, I didn't even bother to look what they had seen. I rather just used that moment to continue to the finish line. Seeing the ice paths Todoroki had laid out for himself, I took the advantage to slide across it myself. Ungracefully, I had secured myself a spot in the second round. I looked around to see that the results showed that Midoriya has taken first place, shocking everyone in the arena, and the rest of class 1-A had made it as well. I scored at 33rd place, which was low compared to the others, but I didn't come in last thankfully. At this point, I was just laying low.

We gathered around the main stage to see what the next challenge would be.

"You made it!" Mina cheered, tackling me.

"Mina!" I greeted her back.

"That course was not made for acid quirks, huh?" Mina commented.

"I'm sure the next rounds we'll have a better chance to show off our quirks," I reassured her.

Mina was about to respond, but Midnight caught our attention, announcing that the next challenge would be a cavalry challenge.

I looked to Mina, but she gave me a rather disappointed look. "Two acid quirks on a team isn't probably going to work out, huh?"

She had a point, a really good one. I had to come up with a strategy on who I should team up with.

"I'm sorry, (Y/N)," she commented before running into the chaos that had been created as we started to form teams. I looked across the crowed of people to see that the guy who argued with Bakugo a couple weeks ago was standing with Ojiro and Aoyama. I saw this same guy in the first challenge being carried by other contestants. Something seemed off about him, but I didn't have time to debate it. I needed a team.

"Let me be on your team," I approached him.

He gave me a curious look, "Why should we let you join? I have barely seen your quirk."

"And I have barely seen yours, but I'm in the same class as Ojiro and Aoyama. It would make more sense to have me since I know your other teammates," I told him.

"I have only really seen her quirk in training, but I have a feeling that she could be helpful," Ojiro commented.

"Oh (Y/N) would be the perfect addition~" Aoyama commented.

"I'm (Y/N), and my quirk is nightmare acid, and I promise I would be an asset," I told him.

I saw a small smirk form on him face, "Yeah? I'm Shinso, and I don't really care who is on the team, so you can be the fourth member. It doesn't matter much. We will make it to the next round."

There was something off about him, and as much as I didn't want to trust my gut, I knew I had to. We all started to make out was to our corner, but I pulled Shinso back discreetly hitting him with my quirk.

"What the hell—" he snarled, looking back at me. "What was that for?"

I kept my face serious, looking him in the eye, seeing a scared boy. "I don't know you, but I feel like you are going to be the brains behind this operation. This is just incentive."

He glared at me for a moment but brushed me off of him. "Whatever you need to feel better. We're making it to the next round regardless.
