- Dale -

"Come in." Roy gestured me to take a seat on the passenger seat. What did I bring myself into. Now I'm regretting everything that had happened that lead up to this point. Not that I didn't want this but I guess it's a good time to let loose.

"Do I really have a choice?" I asked. Roy may be the most impatient person in the world, yet somehow he managed to extend his patience with me.

"None at all, and don't even think twice." He had his signature smirk that I fell in love(?) with. Correction, I grew into liking. I think that's more of a proper way of saying that right now without hurting anyone.

I stepped into the car and sat on the passenger seat, smiling back at him. We pulled away from the car park but I had this nagging feeling at the back of my head that someone was watching us... or me(?) intently. Maybe I'm just paranoid but was also worried if Connor was the one looking behind me. I shrugged it off mentally and focused my eyes on the road.

My head leaned on the window as the street lights switched on. The orange light contrasted the blue sky, it got darker faster than I thought. Then again, summer was ending less than two weeks. Then autumn will be here once more

"Connor still hasn't contacted you, huh?" Roy broke the tensed up silence between us. I shook my head and kept glancing over the street. He didn't bother me as we drove along.

I just felt the car suddenly stopped at the bright lights across the street. "We're here." He whispered. I turned my gaze to him, his smile was kind and gentle. I nodded and stepped out of his car. He did the same.

"For all it's worth, I hope I didn't bother you at all. I'm sorry for dragging you along." I sincerely apologized.

"Algoods. You need to brighten up a little. You seemed stressed out." He placed an arm over my shoulder then pulled me closer to him as we walked right next to each other.

"Says the guy who works tirelessly everyday." I snorted, smacking my hand over his chest. Damn I forgot how a little taller he was compared to me. It wasn't a massive difference but he was tall enough that I could lay my head comfortably on his shoulder.

"Says the guy who nearly got all the highest marks back in high school. Seriously Dale, you didn't have that much fun back then didn't you?"

I shook my head once more. "Not really, I wanted to do good and maintain my grades so I can have a better chance on getting this scholarship. I don't want my parents to pay for Uni and I don't want to do student loan either."

"I was gonna say you're ambitious, but guess there's nothing wrong with that." We stopped at the entrance where we got our small bracelets so we can go inside the carnival.

"How about you though? I thought you and Grace were doing well together." Roy stopped on his steps. Shit! Why can't I keep my mouth shut for this one time. I muttered to myself.

"Yeah we were, but I guess she's not keen on having a long distance relationship and I respect that. Plus she had a lot of things that she wanted to do and I don't think I would be able to keep up." He let out a heavy breath.

"I'm sorry that I brought it up. I'll have to tape my mouth next time."

"She said that I lacked ambition and didn't want to take a leap in our relationship. But we have agreed on something in the end. Our breakup was mutual. It'll just take time to move on."

We stood in the middle of the small pathway and we were pretty much surrounded by booths and kiosks of food and entertainment.

"I'll get us something to drink. What do you want?" I offered as some sort of apology. Well, I had to make him feel a little better after I brought that topic up to him. Such a dick move.

"No that's okay. It's not-"

"I'll get us some iced tea. I know you like it." I ran towards the nearest kiosk and bought two bottles of iced tea and two crepes.

I threw one of the bottles towards him which he caught and I reached over to him one of the crepes. "Here it's got chocolate sauce and banana. Hopefully this will cheer you up."

He took one of them and we sat down at a bench. " Seriously, I'm happy now that you are."

A sudden rush of heat burned my cheeks. "Uhm... Thanks?"

"Hey I know you said we'll just be friends so let's keep it that way." He said but also whispered something in between the lines of 'wish we could be something else." I didn't say much after that though.

We just had some lighthearted conversation as we finished our food. Roy's actually planning on taking a culinary course next year, so he was just having a gap year. He'll be doing it at the polytech though, since uni doesn't offer any courses related to his field.

"I bet that you'll be the best chef they'll ever produce." I proudly said to him. No, I was being proud of him.

"Hmm, nah. I'm a good cook but not a great chef." He shyly looked away.

"Yes you are! You're cooking is by far the best that I've had. I could probably hire you as my personal chef."

"Seriously Dale, you just want me to be as close to you." He teased, hitting my arm with his shoulder. I laughed in response.

"Why not? I'm pretty sure I'm capable of paying you more than enough to keep you going. Not that I was bragging about my course, Information Tech and Chemistry are not remotely interesting to anyone, besides me."

"C'mon, I don't want to spend the rest of the night sitting on this bench. My ass is getting a little too sore." He stood up and stretched his body a bit. He held his hand to mine and helped me get up from the bench as well.

"So which one are we riding first?"

My eyes widened a bit, not knowing which one should we go first. Of course there was a  carousel, Ferris wheel, a small roller coaster, among the familiar ones.

"Let's try the carousel first." I dragged him towards the ride. And for the rest of the night, that's all we did. We tried every possible ride and games till our hearts content. All my worries and problems were gone in one fell swoop.

"You should have seen your face when the roller coaster was about to drop. IT WAS AMAZING." I exclaimed. Seeing Roy scared at a roller coaster made me think that  he's just been a young boy, but he was nearly an adult in reality.

"I forgot to mention that me and heights are not totally good friends. Heights are my worst enemies." He then crossed both his arms on top of his chest, a light shiver hit his face. So did mine.

We got back to his car and we were still laughing on the events that happened tonight. I wish Me and Connor could be this way right now.

Roy pulled over to the side, near my apartment. He leaned closer to me but I backed away a little bit. No, please don't kiss me on my lips. Please don't kiss me. Please just don't kiss me on my lips. Then he kissed my cheek. Another blush blossomed on my face.

"Thanks for the ride Roy. I said as I left his car and stood by the door. Roy lowered his side mirror on my side.

"Hey don't mention it. I had fun tonight.:

"Yeah me too. We should catch up again soon."

He nodded then drove off. I was pushed back into reality. Connor was still not home since his car was nowhere in the carpark. I noticed though that the light from our room was lit. I was so sure that I turned it off earlier. Maybe Connor had gone home?

I ran back up towards our apartment and found a certain someone on the couch, sitting with the ugliest expression on his face.

"Where were you Dale?" Connor, with a hint of distaste on his voice.

Oh boy, here goes nothing.
