A few days later
Bronze Pyrope's POV:
"Hello?"
"Can you hear us?"
"We... We've changed."
"Please come for us..."I looked around at the source of the two voices, surprised to find Blue Howlite by Red Spinel's side. I wanted to believe that they were telling the truth, but I had to go with logic.
"Why the hell are you actually here?" I asked them, coming out from behind a tree.
"We want to join the Crystal Gems!" Red said innocently. "We've changed. Really this time."
I crossed my arms, shooting a look at them.
"Please understand," said Blue. "You forgave Opal after she fused with Amber. You forgave Black Pearl when she tried to shatter Onyx. If they can change, we can too."I thought for a moment, closing my eyes before feeling a sharp pain in my neck.
I had been poofed.
1 hour later
Dragon's Breath's POV:I woke up on a ship, having no idea how I had got there. I searched through my memories, finding the last one to be of Blue Howlite. Why had she teamed up with Red? And how could I have been such a fool as to think that they'd actually changed?
I looked around. I was in a cell. I saw all the other gems in different cells, the fusions separated, all of them crying and begging to be let out. They had all been fooled by Blue and Red, I knew it. I wasn't dumb after all.
I looked around again. There seemed to be someone missing. It wasn't Bronze Pyrope or Tourmaline, as I knew they'd been separated. But someone else was missing.
"Spinel!" Howlite screamed. "Spinel, where are you?"
Suddenly, a door opened, and in walked Blue Howlite by Red Spinel's side.
"Greetings, everyone," she said coldly, smiling as she did so. "Oh, boo hoo, your little friend isn't here! Hah. You're an idiot, Howlite. And Dragon's Breath..."
She walked over to me and an icy chill rushed through my body."I honestly feel sorry for you," she whispered. "All that stuff the Diamonds said about you. Oh, of course SHE'S defective. We should shatter HER right away! And that pain... When my dear friend drilled into your gem... It started off as just a sharp scratch, didn't it? But then it went in more, and the pain became unbearable before you stopped feeling anything?"
I was so distracted by the memories that I didn't notice I was crying. Blue laughed a piercing laugh before staring into my eyes.
"How do you know about my past?" I asked. "At the time I was shattered, you hadn't even been made yet!"I heard Red Spinel's voice.
"Oh, Kunzite!" she called. "Our little friend wants to meet you!"
Another gem came through the door, hair short, skin pale, and then I realised who Kunzite was.The gem I'd seen at the sky arena.
"This is Kunzite," said Red Spinel. "And before you idiot gems get confused, her pronouns are she/they. They can see a gem's life story just by looking into their eyes! And, of course, she's how we got all our information."
"Kunzite, y-" I started to mutter, before shutting myself up.
"We'll leave you with these losers, Kunzite," whispered Blue, "while we play with our little playmate."As Blue and Red left, Kunzite dropped her evil face.
"Okay guys, I'm going to let you out," they said. "Spinel - Grey Spinel, that is - is in the other prison ward on the ship. I'll protect her gem and set you all free, okay?"
"How are we supposed to trust you?" asked Blueberry.
"I get that you're mad," explained Kunzite. "But you need to understand that I was forced to give them that information about Dragon's Breath. I can get you out of here."Howlite's POV:
Kunzite pressed a button which freed me from the cell. I got out and followed after the other gems, as I saw her free gem after gem.
I made my way to the other ward: the ward where Spinel was hidden. I saw her in one of the cells being talked to by Red and Blue, practically having a panic attack.
"You will never be good enough for Howlite," said Blue. "You're weak; stupid. You're just a worthless little spinel."I couldn't believe her words. This was Blue Howlite speaking; she had been my only friend for hundreds of years and now she was a monster. I couldn't believe my ears.
Blue turned around.
"Howlite?" she scowled. "How in the world did you get out?"
I didn't want to reveal that Kunzite was betraying them, so I said nothing. But suddenly, I had an idea.
"I freed myself with my new power," I lied. "And then I freed the others. So you lose, I'm afraid."
Surprisingly, I succeeded in fooling them. As they ran off to the main ward, Azurite ran into the isolation ward with me, and I searched for a button to set Spinel free.
Spinel mouthed something, but I couldn't hear her.
"What?" I said. "I can't hear you "
Spinel continued to talk, but I couldn't hear a word she was saying. But Azurite seemed to be drawing something on her pad.She showed me a drawing captioned 'what Spinel is saying'. It showed a picture of a small gap between the cell and the wall, in which sat a button.
I looked between the cell and the wall and, thankfully, there was a button right there. I pressed it, letting Spinel free.
"Oh thank the stars!" I said to her, hugging Spinel and crying. "And Azurite, thank you! I'm so glad we have a lip-reader on our team!"
Azurite smiled. With Spinel and Azurite I ran off the ship, urging the other rebels on to follow me. We were able to outrun Blue, Red and, regretfully, Kunzite, who I felt sorry for to the hundredth degree. We got into a forest which we were able to go through. But Red Spinel was fast; I knew she would catch up eventually.
Minutes went by.
Where was she?
Citrine's POV:
For a quartz soldier, I should've been faster. But as I struggled to catch up with the other Crystal Gems and watched them slowly fade out of sight, the enemies (and Kunzite) finally caught up with me.
"Citrine!" Blue Howlite yelled, hugging me on sight. "I'm so sorry - I didn't know what else to do! Have those Crystal Gems manipulated you?""I know what we should do," said Red Spinel. "We should arrange revenge for Citrine's suffering."
