I sucked in a breath and turned towards Sunstreaker beside me. "Can we make a quick stop?" I asked. He frowned, "again? We stopped only half an hour ago... How big is your bladder?" he mocked. "No, there's someone... I'd like to talk to you before we finish our journey.... we are only a day separated from N.E.S.T... please?"
He sighed heavily, "fine... where do you want me to go then?" he asked. Happily, he wanted to make one more stop, I told him where to go. Although, I am not sure if I am going to like this talk. I haven't seen my other grandparents for quite some time and the last thing my grandmother told me was that she hated me and never wanted to see me again.
Sunstreaker came to a stop and cut off his engine. "Can you wait here?" I asked while unbuckling. "Why do you want me to wait?" he asked. "It's something I have to do on my own..." I replied while hopping out and gently closed the door. The last thing I want is Sunstreaker freaking out over something silly and it's not any of his business either.
As I reached the door, I halted for a moment. Am I really going to do this? I hesitated but knocked on the door. My grandmother opened the door and stared at me with a dead look in her eyes. "Hi..." I whispered softly. She huffed and shook her head. "I don't talk to you!" she snapped. "Please... it won't take long..." I said. With hesitation, she stepped aside to let me and shut the door behind her. "Where is grandpa?"
"He passed away a year ago due to heart problems!' she snapped coldly and shuffled over to the chair. "It's been a while..." I trailed off but she glared at me. "If you are here to bring up memories then you can better leave, Skye..." she snapped. I raised my hands a little in surrender. "Look... I don't know what I did wrong in the past to make you hate me so much... but I want to sort things out... I want to... get answers. Why did our family fall apart?" I asked.
"You won't understand... but I can tell that you are a mistake! You never should have been born!" she snapped while pointing at me. Her words hurt but I was able to ignore them. "My mom... she left me this necklace.... Do you know what it stands for?" I asked, showing her. Her gaze hardened and turned her head away. "You are eighteen... isn't it?" he asked. "Yeah..." I whispered softly. "Why?" I asked.
She shook her head and huffed again. "You're a monster..."
"What did I do...?" I whispered. "Everything!" she sneered furiously and slammed her fist on the armrest of the sofa. "You are the reason my son is dead!" she hissed. My eyes widened, "dad? Only because it was my birthday?" I asked, getting angry myself. "It wasn't my fault! How could it possibly be my fault? I was at home with Chase and I had no idea what was about to happen--" she cut me off and pointed at me. "You killed them!"My eyes widened, "no! I didn't kill my own parents! I can't even kill a spider... I was at home... with Chase..." I whispered softly. She took a deep breath and leaned back, "get out of my house, Skye! I don't ever want to see you again and if you do... I'll shoot you!" she sneered, grabbing a shotgun from behind the pillow. I slowly got up,--backing up. "Please tell me the truth..." I whispered. "I just did... you were a huge mistake! You never should have been born..." she snapped. I huffed and turned around, walking over to the front door. "Your father..." I paused and turned around before I was able to open the door. "My son... he wasn't your biological father..." she said before she loaded her shotgun and I felt the urge to leave.
I exited the house. "Don't ever show yourself, you murderer!" She screeched before slamming the door closed behind her. I gulped and quickly walked over to Sunstreaker,-- hopping in. He was leaning against his door, resting his head on his hand while leaning his elbow against the window. "That sounded like it was a good conversation..." she mocked. I huffed and buckled up, "it was a waste of time..." I muttered. "Then why did you decide to attempt it if it's a waste of time anyway?" he mocked. "Because... she is the only living family I have left and she might be able to tell me why our family fell apart, but all she told me is that I am a murderer... a monster and I shouldn't be born... She aimed a shotgun at me and told me that if I set one more foot on her property, or even see me... she would tell me... but she did tell me that my father isn't my biological father... so that means that my real dad is out there... do you think he has something to do with the deaths?" I asked.
"Does it look like I am a detective?" he asked coldly. I shrugged and looked out of the window. "Who is my real dad? I just want to know the truth but no one wants to give it to me... I don't even know who I am..." I whispered softly. "Femme... you need to relax for a little bit, okay?" he asked. I didn't respond and watched the cars passing us as we reached the highway again. "She said I killed them... that I killed my own parents, but how can it be my fault?" I asked, but Sunstreaker didn't know the answer either. He remained quiet and sighed softly and tapped his hand on his steering wheel like he was lost in his own thoughts. I touched the necklace my mom had left for me and looked at the shape of the symbol for a moment. It's the symbol of a wolf, ironically enough, the animal that has killed my parents..."
