Adalyn hopped down the last two steps like usual and a smile appeared on my face. Those things that she does without even realising how cute they were made me smile so much.
She continued to skip beside me, swinging our hands backwards and forwards.
A wonderful smell wafted around the house and I instinctively followed it ending up in the kitchen. My ma and Blaise were cutting up some vegetables whilst Lilith sat on the stool watching them.
They all turned our way when we walked in and a large smirk adored Blaise's face. "So you're both finally done. It's been nearly 2 hours. Do either of you need some holy water by any chance? I have plenty for the both of you."
I sent him a glare while Adalyn's face lit up red. "I-It was Axel's fault."
My eyes widened and my mouth fell open in shock. "Way to throw me under the bus Precious and I don't think that statement is completely true now is it? I mean I recall you saying how much-"
My words were muffled by her hand flying over my mouth. My ma burst out laughing and walked up to us. "Leave the girl alone son. You're going to turn her into a tomato at this rate."
Adalyn slowly pulled her hand off my mouth which was now turned up in a smirk. "Like dad does with you."
Lilith burst out laughing at Blaise's comment which caused my ma to send him a glare but we all saw the way her cheeks heated up. "C-Child. Unless you want to go talk business with the others, you will speak nothing of that sort."
Blaise laughed and placed his hands in the air. "Don't be embarrassed. We've all heard about it from Uncle Braydon and Aunt Josie."
My ma's eyes widened and she turned completely red.
Blaise darted for the door and my ma grabbed the spatula quickly waking after him. "Blaise Charlie Reid!!! Get back here right this second young man! You will tell me exactly what those two d-donuts have told you and will completely forget about it! Do you hear me?!"
Blaise laughed and I saw him running towards the dining room. Adalyn giggled and I looked down at her with a small smile.
Her giggle was like a melody in my head that I just can't keep out.

A loud squeal sounded around the house and Lilith ran towards where they had left. "I'm sorry woman. I'm sorry. I'll forget everything. I'm sorry. Stop hitting me."
My ma walked back into the room a few seconds later with a red exhausted face and pushing some of her undone hair out of her face.
She looked over at Adalyn and smiled. "Now sweetheart. How about you help me make some dessert? I heard you're good at baking."
