"—magical waterplants of the highland lochs?" harry read from neville's book, eyebrows furrowing.
"moody gave it to me." neville explained, wading out of the water. "that day we had tea." he waved to some people in the distance, the other two gryffindor's turning to see who they were. ron, levi, ginny and hermione.
"what do you want me to say again—?" hermione whispered to ron, before sighing and reluctantly making her way towards them.
maeve stood up, frowning at her twin brother, giving him a look as if to say: 'whatare you up to?' but the blonde boy just shrugged.
"um, ronald would like me to tell you," hermione began, looking as if she was racking her memory to recollect her thoughts. "that he was told by levi, that seamus told him, that dean was told by parvati — that hagrid's looking for you."
maeve rolled her eyes at this, looking to ron as if she might slap him. she thought harry and ron's argument was so enormously stupid, and both she and hermione did not want to be caught in the middle of it. and she would be sure to scold levi later on for encouraging it.
"is that right?" harry's eyebrows were raised, ready to give a snarky remark. "well— what?"
"um. . . ?" hermione sighed, retreating back to ron to ask him to clarify again.
maeve followed this time, marching up to them through the browning autumn leaves. "what're you playing at?" she scoffed.
"what am i playing at?" ron huffed. "he's the one who—"
"i've told you a thousand times, weasley, he didn't put his name in that stupid goblet!"
"you don't know that for a fact! he could be lying to you!" he whispered sharply.
"you don't know that for a fact either." maeve rolled her eyes. "point is, i trust him. and you should too." she turned to levi. "and you. if you've got something to say to him, go on and do it yourself — hermione's not your personal at-call messenger."
