PATCHES OF BRIGHT BLUE SKY WERE beginning to appear over the castle turrets, but these signs of approaching summer did not lift harry's mood. he had been bothering ron, hermione and maeve constantly— as he wouldn't shut up about his attempts to find out what draco was doing.

"for the last time, just forget about malfoy." hermione told him firmly.

they were all sitting in a sunny corner of the courtyard after lunch. hermione and ron were flicking through their ministry of magic leaflet regarding 'common apparition mistakes and how to avoid them' for they were taking their tests that afternoon. maeve was laying her head in hermione's lap, purposely trying to bother cormac mclaggen— who was sat a few feet away from them.

he had been bothering them much less, but maeve didn't fail to grasp the opportunity every time she saw him to put on a public display of effection with hermione— just to get the message clear in his head that she was hers.

"harry potter?" a short, second-year looking boy approached them. "i was asked to give you this.." he handed him over a small scroll of parchment.

"thanks." the brunette boy nodded as he bounded away, untieing the ribbon so that he could read the contents. "dear harry, ron, hermione and maeve. aragog died last night." he read. "harry, ron, you two met him and you know how special he was. hermione, maeve, i know you two would've liked him. it would mean a lot to me if you'd nip down for a burial later this evening. i'm planning on doing it around dusk— that was his favourite time of the day. i know you're not supposed to be out that late, but you can use the cloak. i wouldn't ask, but i can't face it alone. love, hagrid."
