"Pepper? What now?"

"This isn't about you Tony- the world doesn't revolve around you, ya know? Bruce, there's someone here. Were you expecting someone?"

"No, let me check it out. I'll be back in a moment." Bruce left the lab, after closing up his notebook and shutting off the computer. As he walked out with Pepper's guidance he found a woman waiting patiently in an empty office area. A conference room of sorts.

"And who might you be?" He asked her with his eyebrows knitted closely together out of confusion.

"Dr. Banner, my name is Leah Cayce. I'm with social services. I am unaware if you've been told that your cousin Regina died in a car accident with her husband."

"I haven't, I haven't spoken with them in years. Uh why is social services interested in speaking with me exactly?"

"Well, they have a daughter. And our records show that you are her only family alive. I understand if you need some time to process things but we need to know if you'd be able to take care of her?"

"I- uh. Wow.. is it- is it okay if I call you or something? I think I'll need a little while.."

"Of course but please try to let us know in a few days? Hopefully Sunday?" She agreed with slight hesitation. Sliding her card across the table. "With that I'll be off, unless you have questions."

"Uh what's her name?"

"Her names Y/n L/n. If you can't take care of her I understand completely, Dr. Banner." She exited with her shoulder back- perfect posture. Bruce walked out a minute later and back to the lab where Tony and Pepper were chatting.

"What's that about?" Tony asked immediately. Swinging his legs on top of the table. Pepper pushed them off quickly with a hard shove.

"Uh- my cousin and her husband just died-" Tony's jaw dropped slightly at the announcement.

"I'm so sorry Bruce, if you need anything-" Pepper comforted him. Though he didn't need it.

"Don't be but-They have a daughter. And I was asked to take care of her. Apparently I'm the only family she has left..."

"Damn..." Tony was somewhat stunned and didn't know what to say.

"And I don't know what to do..Like-"

"You'll make the right decision Bruce," Pepper comforted him as she rubbed his shoulder, "I gotta head to a meeting. Don't blow up anything!"

"No promises..."

And that's how Y/n had landed herself in a car with the Bruce Banner or as most of her classmates know him- Hulk. Bruce had picked her up from where they were keeping her in the meantime, a holding home of sorts. She only had a few bags, her school supplies, clothing, personal belongings and other things.

"I know this is really weird and awkward, I don't think I've seen you or your parents in over a decade..."

"I know you're only doing this because of the pity, I'll stay out of your way. Won't be a burden..."

"Woah, woah woah... who ever said that? Seriously, when did someone tell you that you are a burden or that I only said yes because of pity. Look I know this is a new dynamic and overall a weird situation. And that you're still grieving. But let's make the best of the situation. Right?"

"Right... so.. Where will I be staying?"

"There's a room down the hall from mine. I'll show you around too, introduce you to some of the others-"

"Others?"

"Yeah, avengers tower. Tony offered me to stay a while back and I ended up agreeing. So that means you'll be staying there too. That won't be a problem right?"

"Hopefully not..."

They soon arrived and parked in the large garage. Walking into the elevator and to Bruce's floor- Tony was rich after all.

"And here we are, this will be your room. Why don't you unpack. I'll be back in just a minute."

"What if I can't find you-"

"Ask Friday, she's the AI, she is everywhere."

"Hello Ms. L/n. I am Friday or Female Replacement Intelligent Digital Assistant Youth. You can direct any concerns to me."

"O-oh!" It spooked her slightly- the voice without a body.

"I'll be back!" Bruce called out before jumping into the elevator. He joined the majority of the Avengers who were sat at the couches, lazing around.

"Okay can I have everyone's attention!" No one really paid attention, besides Steve.

"Everyone listen up, Bruce has something to say! Go on," Steve assured.

"So, while the majority of you were on a mission, um... stuff happened. So now I'm the legal guardian of my cousin's kid. Get used to having her around and be nice to her, she's grieving... so yeah," Bruce spoke at lightning speed. Sounds of confusion were heard until Peter shut them up.

"Fuck!" Peter shouted.

"Language."

"Anyway, what he just said is that there's a kid living here now. No one else gets a say in it. Goodbye, thank you for coming to my ted talk."

"How'd you understand anything he just said?" Sam mumbled.

"Have you not met me? Anyway Bruce where is she! I want to meet her!" Peter turned to the older man with excitement.

"Unpacking, you might have already met her, Y/n? She goes to midtown."

"Oh! Yeah, MJ usually partners up with her for projects and stuff."

"That's good, I think...?"

"So when can we meet her?" Wanda questioned.

"Friday are you sure?" A voice could be heard from the corner. Everyone's faces turned to Y/n. She shrunk slightly as she caught the attention of the heroes.

"Now.. I guess." Bruce answered. "Y/n, this is-"

"The avengers... I know. It's not something you can't avoid knowing about....wait Parker what are you doing here?" Her timid voice suddenly raised.

"Uh, hi. Let me reintroduce myself. I'm Peter Stark."

"Shit, that makes so much sense now!"

"Was there something you needed?" Bruce asked her.

"I uh, finished unpacking... I didn't exactly know what to do..."

"Let's just get you settled kid." He smiled and had her sit down with everyone else. "Everyone this is Y/n, Y/n... everyone."
